Well, I developed really bad acne scars about a year and 3 months ago. I never really started to start treating the scars until last May. Anyways, my dermatologists said they were barely moderate acne scares and they will go away with time. But its been almost a year and a half and I have be been through 3 fraxel sessions, 1 chemcial peeling session, a few microdermabrassion sessions, and endless nights of putting on tretinion cream 0.05%.
Don't get me wrong. I have seen a HUGE improvement in my scars. They are so much better than how they used to be, but they are still somewhat prominent on my face. I have been wearing sunscreen for probably around the past 5 to 6 months. Here are some pics of my current scars in bright light.
(The scars actually look a little darker than in the picture for some reason)
Any input on how I could get rid of them. I really don't want to pay another 2000 dollars for fraxel again. I had my last fraxel treatment on Jan 15, 2013 so not even a month ago. Should I just wait to see if the collagen on my face repairs more? Should I try something different? Is there anything thing I can do to help or speed up this process!? Thank you!
First of all, may I say how lovely your skin looks? It seems the Fraxel already worked its wonders.
Well, I do know of one way to speed the healing process, and it seems you've mentioned it in your post: Chemical Peeling.
There are a few different types for different types of scarring. Your scars seem more on the surface thanks to previous treatment
so I'd suggest a glycolic or lactic peel used once weekly. Lactic peels are generally less irritating.
They're relatively inexpensive when bought on amazon.com and very easy to do at home before bedtime.
Plus, they actually produce results when bought at the right strength.
I have bought 70% buffered and 85% unbuffered strengths for my shallow and raised scarring
and seen permanent results within a couple of months.
But if your skin isn't used to that strength yet, I'd use it at or below 50% first.
You're saving a crapload of money and time, as well. My last bottle cost about $15 and I won't rebuy for at least three months.
Hope this helps!
It is just the PIH what he means. This really should've been moved to the red marks forum, but since it's now been joined with the scar forum, we can expect many more posts like this and actually not really have the chance to tell them to gtfo and post in the appropriate forum. Oh well.
OP, your red marks will fade, just be patient. I think your skin looks great as it is.

Why have they merged the forums, it doesn't make sense? It's so frustrating have to sift through endless posts about peoples 'scars' which turn out just to be PIH. I'd give anything to just be dealing with a few red marks.
Yeah, it makes no sense whatsoever. It's very frustrating that the forum is suddenly flooded with hyperpigmentation posts.
I've been meaning to complain to whomever you can complain about this. Hopefully they'll change it back to the way it was if they get enough feedback.
