Sick Of Using Makeup To Cover Up My Pitted Scars

I got acne scars in high school. It took me one year to figure out how to conceal my pitted scarring using experimentation and a TON of time, during which I took an entire year off from college (1st year). I'm now 22, 3 years removed from when I started covering the holes in my face and I still feel like crap because I know that every morning when I get up it will take 1 hour to apply the makeup, and it's not perfect (someone looking very closely may be able to tell I have makeup on). Most days when I don't plan to go out i do not apply the makeup (very meticulous work), which sucks because my friends sometimes want to chill immediately and I can't get ready fast.

I'm taking another semester off and want to make my scars more shallow, which I feel will cut the makeup time by the same % of improvement (deepest scars take longest to hide).

What treatment would you guys recommend? I've grown so dependent to the makeup that no one other than my direct family has seen me without it in 3 years, so the prospect of seeing a derm without makeup scares me.

I told two of my closest friends about this recently, but they didn't know I had acne scars and think I might be imagining it (they havent seen me without makeup).

Thanks.

I have fairly similar scarring which TCA cross didn't help, although some people do recommend Cross for this type of scarring. Then there's dermarolling, but that probably wouldn't give significant improvement and would take a long time. If you have money to spare, I'd recommend looking into Total FX or Deep FX or Fraxel Repair laser treatments. Possibly excision on one or two scars, if you have a couple of scars that are worse and stand out.

Just curious - how do you hide your scarring with make-up? What products do you use? Mine only looks worse when I have make-up on, so I try to use it as little as possible.

Oh, and your scarring doesn't seem too bad, especially since you're a guy.

I would need to see pictures of your scars so I can you tell if they're 'coverupable' by my technique.
