Typically laser, fillers, or subcision are the most effective treatments for acne scars. But long term use of a retinoid or chemical peels can lessen the appearance of a scar, but will not totally get rid of it. I am not sure your hesitance to see a dermatologist or plastic surgeon that specializes in acne scars, but it does not hurt to go for a consultation to get more info about different laser, surgical, or even non-surgical procedures. Good luck and I wish you the best :)

I completely empathize with the low self-esteem which is brought on by scarring. A temporary solution which I've had great success with for hyperpigmentation scarring is the "Caveman Regimen" during which you do not wash your face, and allow a layer of skin to heal over the scars. It works wonders for Rosacea, and costs literally no money or time.

Just let your skin rejuvenate through its own biological mechanisms.
