Bumps After Tca Cross

I had my second round of needling and tca cross 3 weeks ago. I am pretty pleased with the results so far and most of the pitted scars appear to have filled in significantly. However some of the smaller scars (i think they might have been enlarged pores) have filled in to the point that there are now small bumps there instead of holes. The bumps are skin coloured and can be seen when the light catches them. Obviously i would rather have a bump there than a hole but i don't really want a bump either! Are they likely to go down over time or am i stuck with them due to an overproduction of collagen? I am also concerned in that they may get larger as more collagen kicks in.

Hi justmeuk,

I've never had professional tca cross but my guess is the bumps will go down given time.

Are they the same size as the pore or are they bigger bumps?

Also, what kind of improvement have you seen to boxcars? Are the sharp walls less defined as they have risen up?

I've never heard of this happening but I suppose it's possible for you to end up with a hypertrophic scar from treatment. Have you asked your doctor?

Dragonn, they are slightly bigger than the pore, they kind of resemble small pimples under the skin. Regarding improvements, i would say that the walls are definitely less defined and smoothed out, which makes my whole skin tone look better. Some of the smaller scars have disappeared completely and the ones that haven't are now much smaller. This is the second round of tca cross that i've had and also the one that hasn't given me the most results. I'm hoping that the next round will bring even further improvements.

Tokyogirl, i haven't asked my doctor yet. Although it was done three weeks ago the scabs have only been off a week (i'm a really slow healer) so i thought i'd give my skin time to settle down first. Plus my derm is really really busy and i don't want to come across like i'm complaining as i'm happy with what he has done for me and the results i've had so far.

I would imagine the bumps would go away on their own, but that is indeed interesting. I don't remember experiencing anything similar. I'm glad the TCA cross seems to have worked out for you though! Please keep us posted. :)

Did the doctor perform needling and cross at the same time? Surely on different scars? Do you know what was the logic behind that?

Oh hey, I would be curious to hear about your after-care! If my memory serves me right, I've got the impression that you are being treated by Dr. Chu in London and he is using PRP aka platelet-rich-plasma. Is this correct? That sounds very exciting, especially since you seem to getting results. smile.png

Yes i'm being seen by Dr Chu. He does the prp injections first followed by dermapen and then tca cross after. I don't know why he does it all in one go like that, i would guess that having tca cross and needling at the same time could only improve the chances of success though. As for aftercare there isn't anything in particular he recommended but i am applying terproline and also a diy vitamin c serum.

Thanks for the info. How is your recovery going, justmeuk? :) Do you still have visible bumps?

The bumps have all disappeared now and the skin has gone back to normal. I am really happy with the results of the TCA cross, i am just hoping i get some collagen kicking in from the dermapen now as i still have lots of rolling scars.

Hi there justmeuk,

I have also had TCA Cross with Dr Chu and although I am happy with most of the results, one of the scars I had crossed now looks really weird!

I know this is kind of an old post but I was wondering how long after the initial did it take your bumps to go down?

I had deep, but small pit between my eyes, above my nose, which is starting to fill in but the skin around the hole looks all bumpy and discoloured, I am really scared I have made matters worse! It has only been 9 days since my treatment though. Should I call the clinic, do you think?

Right now , I have bumps all over my lower cheeks from small scarred pores that have been TCA crossed 100% solution. I only had one treatment back in 2009 and the bumps didnt go away. Til now they look like small pimples . But yeah smalls bumps are better than small holes for me.

The scars that didnt improve were the bigger ones on my nose, i guess i need more treatments there. I didnt repeat the treatment because the doctor also mistakenly crossed clogged pores on my cheeks which fucked them up. Yes my clogged pores can sometimes look like scarred/enlarged pores cause they are streched real wide so i cannot blame her for that. Two got infected badly cos the bacteria couldnt get out due to the pore being closed by the crossing and scarred badly.

So my advice is choose the best doctor for this treatment because it really works. And not let the doctor cross very small scars unless u want bumps
