Hello there, recently I have noticed that a spot on the right side of my face is now cratering pretty badly. There really wasn't anything surface wise there before, I think it has all been under the surface (so obviously picking should not have been a cause). I've been using Lerosett and it has really helped me thus far, but now I am worried about what this thing will become over there. it looks as if it is becoming about a millimeter or two deep (probably actually 3-4mm in the deepest spot) obviously deeper in the center.
Is there anything I can do to stop it?
How did it take your craters to fill, if they did at all?
Is there anything I can do to stimulate collagen production?
Just eat a healthy diet with plenty of protein and nutrients and sleep well. Vitamin C should be good too, and a vitamin C topical for the scar. Although it oxidizes easily and you should make your own serum from vit C powder, apparently (I'm not very familiar with this yet, myself).
I've also been taking collagen powder, which I find helpful for my health in general. But I don't know if it would affect collagen synthesis as such - dietary collagen of course breaks down in the alimentary tract and the body can synthesize most of the amino acids it needs, so it wouldn't 'need' dietary collagen for anything. But I think it helps with stress (there is a theory behind it, but I can't be bothered to look it up now), and thus might help the body repair itself better. I've heard of stories of dietary collagen helping with cellulite and making breasts firmer and stuff like that, but I'm a little bit skeptical and haven't noticed any such effects myself.
I'd be interested to hear more experiences too. Currently have a 6-week-old scar with hyperpigmentation (+ horrible dent), which is annoying me more than any other scar at the moment. I really hope it improves, although it doesn't seem to have changed much.
But I try not to get too desperate until the hyperpigmentation has faded, since that does affect the look of things a lot. Still, sigh. I'd do anything to undo this.
