Ahh, so I don't know where to post this at all. I know you guys know a lot about rejuvenation, so...

I have melasma, probably from when my estrogen was really high, which was great because I NEVER had acne but now I have melasma from it.

I don't go in the sun or anything like that. I know I need to avoid.

My question is what to do about it? I know there's hydroquinone. That works but doesn't it thin the skin? Also I use BP and I don't think I can use it. What other options are there for it?

Thanks.

You should ask a doctor. I don't actually have any experience with melasma, but from what I understand, treating melasma is not as simple as treating hyperpigmentation. Depending on the depth of your melasma, it can be very difficult to treat.

If I remember correctly...melasma can be treated with cheap light wavelength therapies like Lux V. There are places that do treatments for like...$100 I think?

But ask your dermatologist. Melasma can be tricky.

I don't think mine is considered very bad or deep. They usually treat with what I said. Sometimes they use retin-a but I can't use that because it gives me cystic acne even if I'm clear when I start it.

I'm reading kojic acid is used, sometimes they use peels. Laser can make it worse...

They also use Azelaic acid. The Azelic looks interesting but I worry it would break me out like retin-a does.

I think I can use kojic but I'm not entirely sure. The BP complicates things. I'll need a derm I guess.

Melasma came in to my life after my pregnancy 5 years ago. I got it to go away with HQ and it sated gone until last year. I get the lively mustache and under the eye little patches. Sucks! Anyway what I used, after fearing hq would give me rebound darkening after long term use, was/is a product called RT MAGIQUE. Search it online I believe Shirley beauty is the online carrier of this. I tried reordering and they're out of stock... Nice!!! Anyway. Good luck and keep us posted

Hey, have you had any success with fading your melasma? I have had it since last year 🙁
