hi guyz,

I went to the store today to look at the diaper rash creams , with the hope that they could fade my acne scars.

I looked at 3 different brands:

1. A+D

2. Aveeno

3. JOhnson and Johnson

My concern is that some of the products have lanolin and/or beeswax. Has anyone here tried these and had breakouts or clogged pores.

e

Eager to hear from you.

Cheers,

pixie

Do you have a health food store near you? I would'nt reccomend any of those products that you listed just because they all have ingredients that are not the best for your face. Your skin is very delicate and even though they say that they are for babies they do not contain the best of ingedients. If you do not have a health food store near you there are many websites that carry great products such as [Removed], [Removed], or do a search for products such as avalon organics, alba organics, jason, nature's gate and the sort. Its definitely worth it versus having some synthetic ingredients tear up your skin even more.

i have this small face sunscreen and has ZINC OXIDE labeled on the cover. I've been using it since the last 2-3weeks when I get out to get my run or bike in. It hasn't been causing any acne but I notice it has been helping somewhat. Im going to look into just zinc oxide cream.

Just got "Avalon organics soothing zinc diaper balm". Smells a little funny, Eager to see how it works. I have huge pores, red marks, one soon to be huge cyst, stubborn blackheads on my cheek and so on...

Any "do nots" with this product"? How often can I use this? The ingredients look safe. Would like to hear from you.

Another product that contains zinc oxide is calamine lotion, the only difference between it and diaper rash creams are the color (it's pink) and the fact that it dries stiff.

Penaten cream is a good diaper rash cream that works as well. Zinc oxide does speed healing it's been proven clinically so i'm not surprised this works.

Hi Pixie,

I try to use it in the evening after my regimen and sleep with it on my face over night. In the morning I splash my face and use witch hazel to tone. I use every other evening it can dry your skin out. It just depends on your sensitivity. Good luck

Oh yeah on the huge cyst I would put a large dab of it on it until it draws it out to the surface. Then after it has been drained keep a thin layer on overnight. It will speed up the healing process. Massaging it in helps. I hope this helps.

If your skin starts becoming to dry use pure jojoba oil lightly massaging it in for during the day. I like to wash, tone, use a benzoyl peroxide lotion, jojoba oil, then zinc cream over night. That seems to work best for me. Everyone is different though.

I also accidentally discovered the benefits of zinc oxide after using my Badger SPF 30 Unscented Sunscreen (Non-Nano Uncoated Zinc Oxide 18.75%) for the first time last weekend!

In my teens I began to have very severe back acne. I used Retin-A but it wasn't until I went on Ortho-Evra that the acne went away. Several years later the acne came back with vengeance. I've begun to use Retin-A again but it hasn't as successful as it had been in the past; not to mention the dryness and irritation that's a common side effect. I've tried scrubbing and even benzyl peroxide washes with no success. I was certain I was about to spend another summer covering my blemished back until this past weekend I used the new sunscreen on the warmest day of the year thus far. Overnight I noticed all the irritation, redness, and blemishes are gone! I've been using it now for 4 days and its been the longest I've been blemish free in forever!

The product itself is even amazing as moisturizer, make up base (beeswax makes a great base), and smells yummy like shea nut! Don't get deterred by the oil content, I think Americans have been taught by cosmetic companies oil is bad when in fact there are a lot of natural oils that are also antiseptics (for example: lavender, coconut, tea tree, clove, rosemary, etc) that are commonly used more in natural cosmetics in place of chemicals. And where do you think all those chemicals come from? Crude oil! Ick! I've been using the sunscreen on my very sensitive/oily skin typed boyfriend whom has been on accutane 3 times and it hasn't made him break out even a pimple! But if you are still concerned I recommend their lightly scented version of the product which additionally contains lavender oil which is one of the antiseptic oils I listed.

Next paycheck I'm going to stock up on the sunscreen and use it all year round as a daily facial moisturizer... its so much more affordable than my previous regime and has multiple uses: moisturizing, healing, sunblocking, and zinc oxide is also known to repel insects! Not enough? Badger also makes a bug repellent sunscreen!

the best zinc product that's ever worked for me is Zinc Cream by Margarite- my local health food store used to carry it, but now I buy it online- just google it and you can choose a seller-

I started using it initially because I have rosacea, but it really shines helping with acne- if I get a blemish, I'll dab it on at night and by morning it'll almost be gone (depending on the size- "your results may vary", as the saying goes!)-

it's also tinted, so it helps to conceal any blemishes as well- a little also goes a long way-

hope this helps anyone-

I cannot comment on the healing factor of zinc oxide. But applying a moisturizer with sunscreen on your face(zinc oxide) will leave some residue that makes you skin appear whitened hence making the red marks appear much better. If you stop using it, your red marks will return to what they once was.

I had a prescription for a big jar of pure Zinc oxide that I got for a wound, and now I use it for my pimple scabs to dry them up and heal them. Sometimes if my skin gets really really dry, i use this as well. Great healing product, works overnight, and takes away redness. I can't tolerate most lotions or creams, so this is my go-to product. I would recommend it to anyone! Mine is zinc oxide 20% from H&H labs.

zinc oxide is non-comedogenic while i'm told titanium dioxide is not.so i suggest u avoid it.

zinc oxide is suppose to give u a pale look as well.the degree of which varies with products.

it is also suppose to help ur acne/zits etc(depends though!).

specially if its fungal folliculitis.

am not sure about acne marks or PIH though?

u can PM me for more information.i've been looking into these topics recently.

melagard 50+ is a product that many dermatologists recommend.its got both chemical and physical barrier which is the ideal way of sunscreening all the kind of rays.sunscreen is a must for acne patients.

i use it and its quite good.
