well Ive been dealing with some withdrawl effects from trying to get off an antidepressant and my doctor suggested fish oil to help withdrawl and coconut oil for a bit of weight gain and its pro-biotic properties. But I dont think Ill have a problem doing without as Im pretty healthy with alot of other things.Ive never been on Accutane but maybe the combo of retin-a(which ive stopped using) and too many fatty acids ( more vitamin a), with the roll could have started this. One thing Im really beginning to learn is that in the case of skin sometimes less is more! Thanks for the help GoodLife, I do appreciate it.
Hey...I have started to have this amvc scarring aswell, and Im freaking out! I got a new scar today and I dont know what the fuck is happening! I dont take anything unusual, the only thing I take is Multivitamin(yes with vitamin a), but I have used that multivitamin for 4 years, so thats not the problem...I had a dermarolling session a week ago, could this be the reason for the scars???
Here is a picture which shows 3 out of the 4 amvc scars i have...
The only thing thats new in my life is the schampoo Ketokonazol...
Edit: It was 2 years ago since i was on accutane
For you people who dont believe I have AMVC , check this out!!! I have gotten another big scar in the past days! This is so fucking depressing!!!!! Dont know what to do.....Any help out there???
Edit: I have read something about one schould take anti histamine, so I can just go and buy one of those allergy pills than? Same thing?
I doubt any supplements could even effect you in a way to spontaneously create scarring.
During accutane did you breakout in that area? If so...then that could be why.
It isn't the worst thing in the world. Take care of your skin for now and maybe one day get a subcision if you feel necessary.

Comparing both photos, I think I almost kind of see the second one already there before. It's kind of hard to tell. I'm not trying to be patronizing, but are you sure the lighting isn't just kind of messing with you or something? The legitimate condition that can cause what you're describing is supposed to be extremely rare. But at any rate... Have you gone to a doctor? Sorry if I missed that part before.
This was discovered in 1918. It has been almost 100 yrs and less than 25 documented cases in THE WORLD. Almost all cases had childhood onset.
What are the chances of 25 cases in 100 yrs, yet suddenly all of you on acne.org have this. It is statistically not possible.
Furthermore, Lamarrs doctor said this is very common? Is his doctor smoking crack?
There is no association with accutane and fish oil causing scars. IF ANYTHING OMEGA-3 REDUCES INFLAMTION. Reduction in inflamtion means less tissue damage, thus less scars.
This thread is freaking people out for no good reason. NONE of you have it.
If you really really believe you have adult onset AMVC, then go to a doctor. WHy sit around and let new scars post, then come here and freak out.
But what are the chances of this thread popping up, then all these people having this EXTREMELY RARE disease. In almost 100 yrs, less than 25 documented cases in the world.
Come on now.
Furthermore, If accutane in conjuction with fish oil caused this disease, you can bet thousands of people would have this disorder.
If you research further, you will find that it is not "exactly spontaneous." Do your own research and you will know what I mean by this.
I'm not trying to be rude, by people are freaking out for no good reason. I'm confident that not one of us has this.
For those of you who STILL doubt me here is a picture after I was finished with accutane, and here you can clearly see that the scar is not there. Note! I have not had any acne or any other injury there.
Thanks Lamarr...Okey I will buy the 24 hour histamine, hopefully they have the 24hour kind here in Sweden?! Regarding to my diet, I haven't eaten anything particular lately, but I do have eaten more sallad with dressing more than usual. Just did some check up on the vitamin a levels on the sallad i have eaten, and they are very high, maybe this is creating problem. I do take a multivitamin(yes with vit a in it) but I have done so for about 3 years. It seems like I eat a lot of vit A rich food unfortunately....
Sanjoseskin. Since this disease is so rare, and since most people dont think scars can just pop out of nowhere, many people who have amvc problably just think they are crazy. I mean I dont think most people who are scar free check themself that closely in the mirror! This amvc condition is so strange so that the people who are affected, maybe only think that is was some old childhood injury that they just haven't noticed before. Most people don't report the condition because of the previously named reasons. One schould add that most doctors are not informed about the disease, and therefore there are a lot of hidden statistics. BTW where do you have your sources on the number of discovered cases of AMVC?
When Lamarr enlighted the AMVC condition I think people got aware of that such a thing actually exist. Maybe some people are are imagining that they are developing scars, but I think most people are telling the truth. I strongly believe post Accutane users are very prone to develop AMVC.

My sources are not wikipedia thats for sure.
What bugs me is when someone says an extremely rare disease is actually common. Then this same person makes a diagnosis saying fish oil with accutane is the cause. Now this same person has a possible cure, histamine blocker?
Give me a break. If you are not able to do your own research beyond google and wikipedia, then I suggest you stop listening to me, and everyone else. Go to your doctor, and let him enlighten you on the real details of this disease.
If I had scars popping out of nowhere, I wouldn't be arguing with people on here back and forth. I would be at the doctors office asap.
I sent you a kind email, trying to calm your nerves, because you seemed very upsett you had this disease, and you replied back calling me a "f*cker."
Very nice of you.
If you must really know where I get my sources, I used a publication search engine only available to UCLA students, researchers, professors and doctors at UCLA med. It searches every possible publication imaginable, it goes through every journal, then it provides full access to the publication, not just ABSTRACTS. Most research universities offer full publications for free to students.

It would be nice if you'd site your sources, since you're basically criticizing everyone in this thread. Other people have cited their sources.
And, although I didn't do much research, of the few articles I did read about AMVC, most of them noted that the condition is likely under-reported, since many people tend to pass off the scarring as having come from something else.
I'm not saying anyone in this thread is wrong or right, I'm just saying. ; )
[EDIT] Also, I'd just like to remind everyone that the board rules apply to PMs as well as the forums, and that if anyone is violating the rules, the issue needs to be taken up with the moderating team so that we can deal with it appropriately. Please don't hash things out on the boards. : )
Sanjoseskin. Yeah Im real sorry for calling you fucker, but I was really upset yesterday, since its for me an never ending nightmare. The reason I called you fucker was because you said I didnt have AMVC and pretty much that I was crazy. Why the hell schould I go the doctor? They don't know shit about this, and most would problably think I was crazy and maybe say "Who cares about such shallow scars?".
Well only one person "goodlife" has provided a source in this thread.
Praisethelord, I hope you don't get any new scars. I expressed my opinion, your best bet is to go to the doctor.
My final thoughts. Don't listen to anyone here, and don't purchase any home treatments someone might be selling here. Get a professional educated opinion from your doctor.
However, you expressed even your doctors won't give a sh*t. So I dunno what to say.
I'm not here to argue.
Well, praisethelord, some of my scarring turned up months after accutane aswell. This is probably because a lesion can be swollen for months and once the redness goes away the skin can become indented.
On another note; stop staring at urself in a dark room with a flashlight over your head man. These kind of scars nobody will ever notice but yourself. If I look at myself (and I bet almost everybody here) in that kind of lighting, I wanna jump of a building.
Ziko. That lightning isn't really that harsh, its a spotlight which most homes have. There are much worse lightning, like the lightning in clothing stores. And Ziko I did not have any lessions there I PROMISE! Okey? This is why AMVC almost isn't reported, even when I have presented clear evidence, not even then can some people believe there is such a condition, that says a lot!
I stopped getting acne like 2 months into my accutane course, well I actually almost got ridd of my acne before accutane, but got on it to be sure to never get acne again! Btw what kind of a lesion would give such a long linear scar? Cant be common atleast.

Wrong.
I have spoken to dozens of people who have suffered this, in part due to accutane but also due to large doses of vitamin A or omega 3 and 6 from sources such as fish oil, flaxseed etc.
I suffer this if i take either fish oil or flaxseed oil.
Lamarr, does these scar respond well to needling? And also I did buy histamine today, but they didn't have any 24hour kind, but they said the histamined worked 24 hour. Lamarr..Have you gotten ridd of these amvc scars? Does it look perfectly smooth these days when you look at your skin under bright light where the amvc scars has been?
The salad kind I have eaten a lot latly is spinach! Which seems to contain a lot of vitamin a and omega-3 fatty acids.
I have talked too Lamarr for a while so I can answer your questions in case he doesn't get back to you soon.
The scars respond well to needling, if you look in the thread ' ok guys ' started by lamarr, you will see he has great skin.
Don't worry too much about food, it's the supplements that can cause the problems.
Get the piriton anti histamine if you can. I took them for about a week and the scarring seems to have stopped now.
I don't know much about needling...so I can't say anything about it...however,
I do think that knowing how the skin works and how small doses of fish oil usually come in. I just don't see the possibility of fish oil with a previous accutane/topical retinoid history could cause spontaneous scarring.
Now, you may have scars underneath your skin that weren't showing before and something else brought them to the surface...however I just doubt that fish oil could do that.
What you should know is accutane patients are more susceptible to scarring during an accutane course and for a certain period after the accutane course.
It changes your skin to an extent.
Ok, thanks Goodlife! Well Im not sure about the supplements, because I do eat A LOT of vitamin A and omega 3 fatty acid in my diet. Im going to stop eating my multivitamin for a while. Im starting to think perhaps dermarolling makes you more prone to AMVC? Any possibility of this? Just had a dermarolling sessions 4 weeks ago. The antihistamine you mentioned, do you know of a good online store to buy it from? This site trustworthy? http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/piriton-all...ts_1_26301.html
Well sportsguy23 I stopped Accutane about 1 and half year ago, so that cant be correct.
