Dr Y. said I was on track, maybe just a few hours behind most of you guys on healing. But I also had my Dermabrasion on Monday at 3PM, so I didn't get a full 72 hours in bandages.
I was really swollen this morning and in a bit of pain.
Dr. Y prescribed me vicodins - woo hoo... I love these.
Pain has subsided almost 100%.

For the past 6 years my daily commute between Brooklyn NY and Secaucus NJ is a little over 2 hours in morning and evening rush hours traffic. I have seen it all. NYC drivers and even aggressive NYC taxi drivers in Manhattan doesn't bother me. The trick is drive a moderately powerful vehicle that you don't give a crap about. My urban assault vehicle, a slightly modified beat up Jeep TJ does very well in the NYC. I should feel at home driving in New Orleans.
I usually toss and turn when sleeping. But after your body has been thru a trauma like this, it knows that it can't toss and turn if you're not supposed to. I don't move an inch at night. I've got myself propped up on 4 pillows. Laptop in reach, cell phone in reach, remote control in reach, water, gatorade, orange juice, and smoothie king all in reach. Most importantly, vicodins in reach now... I'm alllll set.
I should also comment on improvement at this early stage as it may change some. First, I'm so swollen that I don't even recognize myself in the mirror. Some of the scars are GONE. I can't even find them. My big chicken pox scar is still there but much less evident (just as he promised). My mole removal area is doing pretty good too (upper lip) and the brown spot (flat mole growth) has been eradicated completely. At this point I can't find 1 of my rolling scars but I'm sure that some of that is attributed to the swelling. If not, then awesome, but I can't expect that at this point.
I hope I see some good lasting improvements from this. I must admit, I didn't think it would be this intense.
the two pics below to see my swelling. (also note my matted hair... it felt like indoor/outdoor carpet. I oozed so much that I even oozed into my hair. I had to wash it 4 times) The pre-dermabrasion pic is a photoshopped one. hehehe
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm thinking about getting dermabrasion myself but the only thing that is holding me back is the recovery time. I can only take 2 weeks off and I don't want ANYONE to know that I've had this done. I'm either a I or a II on the fitzpatrick scale. If I used makeup (i.e., dermablend) to cover the pinkness would anyone know that I was wearing it? I'm a dude so I can't have any trace of this on my face or I would be the talk of the office.
I am not quite sure what kind of scarring I have. I'd say it was about 9 icepicks (Dr. Y punched those), and the rest mostly just uneven yucky skin.
I think I am about as fair as a human can be, so I think that is a Fitzpatrick 1 if I remember correctly. But, now I am kind of bright pink!
It is too soon for me to give any estimate of improvement, but I must say things are looking good right now. Atleast I can say no matter what that I gave it my best shot. I am only at day 10 though, so I'll have to wait and see
just got out my 2nd shower, second cleansing for the day (shaving foam and gauze)... rapid healing finally. I'm on day 5 but no where near Misty's day 4 pics in terms of healing. I would say I'm 1 - 1.5 days behind on healing (I have no idea why)
My swelling seems to be subsiding just a tad. Maybe I'm just getting used to the swollen me. The new skin coming in is beautiful. I can't ever recall having such beautiful skin. Hopefully it stays this way!
