I waited about two weeks after my last subcision treatment before I attempted to dermaroll my face. I was pretty swollen and bruised, so I gave myself a break.
I purchase my dermarollers from www.owndoc.com and I use the 2.0 cm roller. I am still rolling and did it last weekend, in fact.
My younger brother who sees me about every three to four months mentioned how smooth my face looked the last times I saw him.
The subcision treatments were, by far , the procedures that reduced the significance of my scarring. Dermarolling and 25% at home TCA peels also helped to stimulate the production of collagen in my skin. I buy mine from www.skinobsession. Definitely do our homework first as this is a powerful peel and you must wear eye protection. I have done four or five if them and your skin really peels!
Hope this helps.

Hi Mr Matt,
May i know if u have lumps or nodules under the bruised areas immediately after the subcision? Is it just something that will go away with bruising ? What is the protocol u did for the suction on your face ? Like how many minutes per area, how many times a day . Thanks for helping out!

Yes, I do recall having lumps/subcutaneous nodules under my skin after a couple of my subcision treatments and particularly after my fourth and final round of subcision. The nodules eventually resolved themselves after several months, They were noticeable while I was still bruised and swollen, but not afterwards.
I definitely recommend combining subcision with suctioning. I was shocked to see how well it worked on my left cheek and so was my dermatologist.
mr. matt,
I plan on having TCA cross and subcision. Is there any recommendation as to which order to have these procedures? Should one be performed the other?
I don't think that it makes any difference because TCA CROSS treats surface level scarred pores and subcision treats sub dermal scarring.
Hope this helps and good luck with your procedures.
Matt
Hi Mr. Matt,
Thank you so much for providing such in depth detail about your subcision journey. Your posts were the main sources I used to guide my research before I got the subcision procedure done in Nov 2014. I've had a lot of improvements myself in the past 6 months and hope to continue to see improvements.
My question is about one of the methods you are using, dermarolling. I started my first session last week and I wanted to ask you what improvements you have seen with this modality? What is your routine? I tried dermarolling about 4 years ago and didn't really see much improvement but I also did it for like 3-4 months, so not long at all. Thank you so much!
Best,
M
Hi Matt,
I'm getting subcision and cool touch laser CT3 performed next wednesday for the first time. I have moderate scaring. I'm pretty sure ill be combining this with the suction method. I use proactiv and this has kept me clear. A couple questions.
- When do you recommend I start using proactiv again after my procedure. Im assuming that Ill need to take a break but will start using again when I can.
-What can I buy or prep my face with for this procedure.
-How much longer does the suction technique prolong the bruising and swelling? Anything I can do to remedy this?
and anything else you can recommend would be much appreciated.
Thank you for this thread and your time. Your helping people like me.
Your bro

Reading this thread has inspired me to look into having subcision. I'm in Houston and I saw a few people mention some doctors but was wondering if anyone has any updated stories to share. Thanks so much Mr Matt for all you have shared and I hope you are having continued good skin .
I did Fraxel many many years ago and it did help but as time goes on and I get older the scares are deep again and I have new ones from new hormonal outbreaks and I think subcision would be ideal. I also am going to get a dermaroller as well. I have such sensitive oily skin but it's' become so flakey lately I have been at my wits end with this whole mes.

My question is have you had FILLERS? and can subcision alone do the heavy lifting, because as I see in your case it does. Thanks very much!
1) they can be really expensive
2) they are temporary
I am still dermastamping and I am getting ready to do my annual 25% TCA peel. Both of these procedures have really helped to generate a lot of collagen in my face.
.
If and when I ever decide to get fillers, I will definitely repost and put a disclaimer on any photos that I might post.
Hang in there, everyone, and fight the good fight for better skin.

Hi! I just got excision, subcision and fat transfer for acne scarring on my face 9 days ago. The excision marks don't look smooth and are very red, i am still a little swollen and i am so worried. Can you give me some advice as to how long i should start seeing improvement? Will these excision marks flatten over time and if so how long? I heal generally very fast or maybe perhaps "on time." What do you recommend for large pores and hyperpigmentation/redness/brown marks on skin? I have done CO2 already 3 times and don't feel that it will do much else. Wanting to try something else after i heal. How long should i wait until i heal completely? Thank you for taking the time. So tired of this already
When should i see maximum results for subcision?? I know you did suction with it but i am guessing instead of suction, my Dr did fat transfer instead. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you!!
Collagen remodeling and format is a process that takes months to complete, so you should expect any 'overnight' results from anyprocedurethat you mayhave done.
Any redness and swelling should, for the most part, be gone in three to four weeks. I had a couple of subcutaneous lumps that took about two months to subside,so you can't rush the process.
If you have hyperpigmentation issues, talk to your doctor about a 25% or 35% TCA peel. I did seven of these at home, but I had major problems with the last one I did. So, I suggest having a dermatologist do them for you.
I would wait at least 90 days before you have another procedure done. Also, I am a big fan of microneedling.
By the way, your photos look great. You should be on the road to a better complexion soon.

how is your progress going so far?

My skin has been going through a mess of changes with volume and breakouts...finally got the acne under control for now. Going to dermo in a couple weeks. It looks better but i am not happy with the right smile crease area and color. Do you recommend i do a chemical peel for texture and color? The fat seems to be decreasing in voluming or trying to find it's home in my cheeks rather. Looks different every few days.
It doesn't look bad actually. I'm sure a chemical peel could help you with color and texture. There are different types of peels though, I found the tca peel more beneficial as its more of a deeper peel than salicylic acid (depending on concentrations). But it reveals the new skin within 3 or 4 days but you will have down time during those days because the top layer hardens and flakes off.
I'm having my second subcision done on Monday only this time I will combine with suction.

it went well. I suctioned this time and i feel like i had much better improvement this time around. I'm two months in and i feel like ive seen improvement.
Hey, all, I grave dug this thread for anyone thinking about subcision. I think Mr. Matt had some really great success and I WISH I HAD FOLLOWED HIS PATH by having subcision performed on my rolling scars. Instead I opted for copious amounts of filler, which made a lumpy mess of my face.
I'm going to review this thread again before seeing Dr. Ringpfeil sometime this summer.

Hey what kind of fillers did you get? I had subcision plus HA filler and at first I had real progress in my scarring but after 3 months all the fillers were gone. Now I'm thinking of maybe Sculptra.
Restylane for about 9 years (three sessions) and then one session of Voluma. I regret it all. I should have followed Mr. Matt's path and had subcision done. My 9 year plastic surgeon didn't and still doesn't perform subcision so back when I started, I didn't know about it as an option.

Interesting. Subcision and suction. Good luck.
