So I gave this turmeric a try since I already had some in my spice cabinet. After 2 days of treatments, I haven't noticed much for the red marks but HOLY S&*T my face feels incredible. I don't think my skin has ever felt this smooth and soft, even when I was a baby. I want to make out with someone just so they can feel how soft my face is.

But there is a downside. Don't underestimate the yellow staining, it takes over 5 hours for my skin to stop looking yellow, and it is a very ugly yellow for sure. Seriously though, oh my gawd nothing has ever made my skin feel this nice in my entire life.

Hellza cheap too, I made my paste with lemon juice to have more acne-fighting power.

Ok I think the staining will depend on what kind you use. The powder I had which was great at making a paste with really stained my face. I did however use the fresh root yesterday... it was hard to get the juice out but much easier to take off in the morning. I'm going to try and pestle and mortar it tonight which I think will make it easier to juice. Also, with the fresh root, I can apply it and then put moisturiser over the dry patches of skin. It helps dry pimples out but as of yet, I'm not sure how well it works on red marks.

does anyone know if there is any difference between yellow and white turmeric? i have been told the yellow one is a milder less sharp taste.and the white is more pungent and less subtle flavour. Does this mean the white one is better as it is may have a stronger juice?

Hi xab, yea im still not sure about the difference between the white and yellow turmeric :( im using the yellow one. Apparently the best way to store it though is wrapped in a plastic bag in the fridge.

Im also going to try a lemon and cucumber juice mask before applying the turmeric overnight, the lemon and cucumber work together to effectively bleach and calm the skin. Only leave on for 15 mins tho then wash off.

hopefully using this and the turmeric will speed up the process of fading the red marks

I got the idea from here

I would say yes to the accutane comment as its completely natural so shouldnt intefer chemically with accutane ( although im not 100% sure)

One thing you will notice as is mentioned above by another poster is how soft your skin will become; it doesnt make your skin dry at all ( well it doesnt for me)

After some experimenting with the root, I think I found a pretty effective way to get the juice out. I put the root in a ziplock bag in the freezer for the day (or overnight). Once you take it out and it thaws, the root is much softer. You can actually peel the skin off with your fingers, and then gently squeeze the root. The juice just starts flowing and you can use the root directly on the face to get the maximum amount out. I don't think the freezing reduces the efficacy, though I can't say for sure. My face still gets plenty yellow :-)

Pretty much the same as yourself. Not using it every night because I'm still using BP on the area. Depending on whether I have stuff to do the next day, I generally go for 2 or 3 nights in a row of turmeric then a few nights of BP. In total I've applied it for maybe 5 nights now.

Like yourself, I don't think it's done a thing, but then I wouldn't expect to get results in a week or even in a month. While the original post is inspiring and encouraging, I'd say it's impossible for marks that have been there for 6-12 months to disappear in a month.

I'm just hoping for SOME gradual improvement, hopefully an acceleration of the natural healing process. That way I hopefully won't be disappointed.

As I mentioned in another post recently, it's interesting that Turmeric fights against the damage that BP does to skin. Whilst BP creates free radicals and oxidizes the skin, Turmeric is this 'powerful' anti-oxidant. Hopefully they aren't just canceling each other out... maybe one of you guys who sees a professional dermatologist can ask them about that.

Good luck to everyone sticking with it, I'm sure there's something to it.

I saw this Indian book on beauty tricks that had been passed down generations. One of them was a black lentil mask. I decided to incorporate the turmeric in the mask and I have seen A LOT of improvement. Im on my sencond week, but I could already see the amount of pimples diminish after one week.

So for the mask, cook some black lentils. Then crush them, and add a lot of turmeric in there till u get a yellow paste. Add a bit of lemon juice to it too. The original lentil mask asked for butter, but I dont think it's that important. The book said to apply the mask everyday for a week.

Hope this helps.

that black lentil mask sounds interesting! Im still sticking to the turmeric and i think im seeing an improvement in my red marks, they're looking less red. although I went kinda crazy and started exfoliating loads cos i just want smooth skin!! and i think that made me breakout. :(

also, can anyone giv me some tips on a moisturiser?? I was using witch hydrating gel which worked AMAZING for me, was the only cream that didnt break me out and gave me smooth skin and now it's been bloody discontinued i actually wanted to cry! so since, i've tried so many things but everything is breaking me out! any tips?

hmmm crazy so my red marks are almost gone!

I cant really state exactly what the improvement is from

because I've been using so much stuff to get my

skin back to normal. But, if you guys want to know

I've been using:

a 30% glycolic mini peel once a week,

green tea poultice clay,

witch hazel as a toner,

Neutrogena Oil Eliminating Cleanser,

salicylic Acid gel

It's definitely the glycolic peels every week - used that often, they can really do wonders.

wow! I am acne free now but I can't seem to get off the acne-aftermaths.. my jaw line doesn't seem to flake well so the mark stays there for like ages. This is very much available in our place so I'm gonna give it a go! Good luck to all of us here!

ok iv been on the turmeric regimen for four weeks now, and theres not much difference at all. I leave it on overnight and apply directly from the root. I started exfoliating and using aloe vera gel though, which lead to quite a bad breakout, which obviously left more redmarks :( so im still gonna stick it out. after all my oldest redmarks are years old so i guess i need to just wait longer.

however i have purchased mama lotion, havent recieved it yet but hope to by 2moro :)

also ive noticed my concealer and bronzer (body shop crayon and rimmel bronzer) is really stopping my red marks from fading cos i only use it on my cheeks and thats where i have the reddest of redmarks, so im gonna stop using those altogether. anyone else having a similar experience to me?

I have been using the root now for about 12 days. i stab the root with a knife then apply the actual root to my face so i don't get it on my fingers. I am seeing some improvement. HOWEVER my marks having been fading naturally in the last couple of months anyway so it may not be down to the turmeric. I have had my red marks for nearly 4 years has anyone else had them for this long?

hey so I am using turmeric in a mask I discovered on this site

Nutmeg

Cinnamon

Turmeric

Honey

Lemon Juice

I have used it twice and I like it but I can't say for myself if it helps with redmarks.

Just thought I would share the mask.

yep ive had them for about 4/5 years so dont worry ur not alone. where i dint have active acne for about 2 and a half years till now i jus used to spend my life in makeup and no one ever knew i had redmarks underneath cos my skin was rele smooth. now my skins gone bad again (came off the pill) i realized i need to confront the whole issue and not just hide under makeup anymore! cos its different when uve got active acne, the makeup never hides it.

so yea cut a long story short lol my red marks are ancient. its slow progress with the turmeric, been using it for six weeks now and i think there's the tiniest difference in redmarks. acne has significantly reduced tho, but that's probably due to the pill which i went back on couple months ago.

im also adding acv into the mix now! only been using it for two days and love it already!

also just to add, if anyone here is at university or anywhere where there is a free counselling service, obviously only for ppl who are rele down about acne, pls use it!! i'v been gettin really depressed recently about my acne amongst other things and counselling is great!! rele helps.

anyways im gonna stop writing now! hope everyone with acne and redmarks are smiling, cos if that's your only problem then you're pretty lucky

Okay I know this is a old post... but I recently read it when I was lurking in the boards and doing some searches. I tried the turmeric paste today, and I didn't get much of a staining at all. So I thought I would share how I went about it

Used:

1 tbs. turmeric powder

1 tbs. Chickpea flour

1.5 tbs yogurt

Left on for about 30-45 minutes

Use tepid water to pat face, after 10 seconds wash with just water.

Pat dry

Use rose water as a toner to get the rest of the yellow tinge off

Is anyone still doing this? I felt that it left my skin incredibly soft (esp after the toner), and my face looked a lot less redder.
