I am looking for drugstore brand makeup products that are safest for acne prone skin. I have been dealing with acne since 7th grade and now i am about to enter college this fall. I have never had a day where my skin has been clear. I have tried everything and my confidence is just shot. I recently found the regimen and started this week with drugstore brands. I know that the best thing for my skin would be to stop makeup all together but i just dont have the confidence to go out of the house without it. This is why i am looking for the safest makeup products to use while on the regimen. Thanks for any help
I use studio gear makeup which is available at ulta. Lasts a long time and works well for my crazy skin.
For drugstore brands, i used neutrogena before that. Never had any problems with it, fairly inexpensive and had a nice color selection.
L'Oreal's True Match looks the most natural and is non-comedogenic.
However I have an allergy to gluten, and I'm pretty sure it contains wheat so it gives me little bumps all over. Sad really, because it really had an amazing finish and is super lightweight. I use Almay's Clear Complexion foundation, never breaks me out. But feels really heavy I will admit.
I've just started the regimen with store bought products too
Almay is the brand Dan recommends for people who want to wear makeup while on the regimen as their products are non-comedogenic among other things. In the past I've used Almay Clear Complexion foundation but I found the shade range to be to yellow for my skin. Before I started the regimen I was using Revlon Colorstay and Covergirl TruBlend. I don't know how 'good' they are for the skin though or to use while on the regimen. I might have to find something else or look at another Almay products maybe.
Read over this again / if you haven't already too http://www.acne.org/makeup.html It has some good tips on application / ingredients to avoid.
I like Studio Gear as well, the powder foundation. It's never made me break out or get enlarged pores.
I like a lot toleriane teint compact, it´s a la roche-posay product and I prefer it for summer because i find it lighter, I don´t know if it´s available in the States, in Spain I can find it on farmacies.
And for the rest of the year I love dermablend (vichy), it´s really miracolous, it is said that it covers even tatoos
I've started the regimen last week and have already seen results by beginning of 2nd week. I have switched out in terms of cleanser and moisturizer as I have been testing out the products I already have and wanted to know if I could continue using them along with the BP. I find that my foam cleansers (Bliss, Shiseido) continues to be effective - but key was to actually build up a foam prior to putting the product on my face. My skin had burning sensation if I place the product directly onto it. The foam build up was key factor in eliminating any irritation that occurred and I actually found it to be more effective. With the dryness that was inherent with BP - I found that Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel was really good in addressing it - although I only use that at night - for am - I am considering the recommended Eucerin. Although it is pricey - I use the Cushioning compact CC cream from Iope - a brand of Amore Pacific - they have their own version as well - I love the coverage and excellent for oily skin especially in hot, humid weather where you have the added problem of perspiration. Plus you have that 50+ Protection from the sun which is important because BP is a bleaching agent as well - so sun and BP do not go well together. So you may want to consider a multi-tasking product that has the coverage you need plus the sun protection in one - I recommend any Korean bb or cc creams - they tend to have both - Dr Jart Black Label detox provides decent coverage and they sell small versions in Sephora if you want to try it out - hope this rant helps.
