Hi
im in need of some advice- I tend to get acne only around the jawline, suggesting I'm irritating my skin when I'm shaving. I've read the shaving routines and understand the shaving with the grain, use a suitable razor etc. What I think I,m doing wrong is after the shave - currently I use lukewarm water to rinse and then rub jojoba oil into my skin. A couple of questions;
- do you cleanse after the shave?
- can anyone recommend a good cleanser.
- can anyone recommend a good moistuiriser/ balm? The jojoba doesn't seem to be working
- finally, do you then rinse in cold water to close pores?
any help would be greatly appreciated
Hi, I've been a longtime user of all of acne.org's products and it successfully cured me of my moderate acne and I continue to have clear skin. It has worked wonders for anyone I've recommended it to and has used it. Anyways, why I mention that is because I also have mastered a great shave routine that was provided to me by this site. My suggestion to you is to follow that to a tee. Also in response to your questions...a great shave cream/lather is the acne.org cleanser. It lathers up very well and is a great substitute to shave cream as it does not dry your skin and is very gentle and non irritating. Since you cleanse your beard area there is no need to re-wash that area after shaving but you can wash your nose and forhead afterwards, or the places not washed while shaving. Also a great lotion and post shave routine is just doing the acne.org regimen: use benzoyl peroxide, then the lotion and AHA occasionally works wonders. Using those products will ensure you flawless, bump and ingrown hair free after shaving. Also, contrary to what another user said, I found that putting cold water on my face after shaving did in fact close up my pores and reduced any possible irritation and made my skin feel soft and smooth and redness free. Shaving everyday also helps because your skin gets used to it and you have less irritation every shave due to less pull on your skin and hair because it's so short. Hope those suggestions help because I had terrible acne prone skin and terrible irritation and razor bumps and ingrown hairs after shaving but solved all of that by following the acne.org regimen exactly and using all the suggested products. Take care!
