Hi everyone, so I'll start off with a little about me. I'm a 22 year old female who just started getting acne not too long ago, I would say it is moderate and I have it mostly on my lower cheeks and a few on my chin. I have been washing my face twice a day ever since I can remember. Recently ever since I noticed my acne I have been washing twice a day, exfoliating twice a week, doing masks and steaming my face and my acne hasn't gotten better or worse. I found out about the caveman regimen by Tracy from the love vitamin, it caught my eye and got me thinking maybe I'm doing too much to my skin and not letting it heal by its own. Anyways I dedcided to do it and I'm on day 5 right now and the only change I see in my skin right now is that I'm starting to see flakes and all my underground pimples are coming to the surface. Does anyone still do this and if so did your skin do the same thing? I will be keeping a log on how my skin is doing during these 30 days. Also I'm pouring filtered water on my face only during the morning while I'm showering, I don't know if this makes a difference but any tips will be helpful.

Hi there!
I'm a 21 year old female. I've had pretty much clear skin all my life. I'd get a few pimples randomly, but never full on break out or get clogged pores too often. I have NEVER washed my face all my life except for a few times here and there randomly throughout the years for like a day or two max. Not too long ago, I got a tiny breakout and thought, "hey maybe I should start a skin regime" and it was the WORST decision of my life. I used a product and saw that I had a few more pimples and thought "oh I'll just change face washes" and did so for the next month and a half after that using like 9-10 different face washes/creams and it gave me quite a lot of tiny clogged pores on the areas I washed (forehead and next to my nose). It took me so long to realize but it was definitely all the products I used because the clogged pores are only in the regions I used most of my cleansing on and the fact that I had never had too many bad pimples/never washed my face and now suddenly my face was breaking out. So now, it's the waiting game. About 2ish weeks ago I finally cut out all my products and all my active acne ie red pimples are like 98% gone. I just have clogged pores left pretty much and then it occurred to me that whenever I was sick, my skin would significantly clear up. I would steam my face (because my nose would be blocked) a ton. So I just incorporated steaming in as well to see if it fixes the clogged pores! Just did my first round today and I think I'm gonna do it every other day ie wash with Brita filtered (since my skin is sensitive af) warm water, steam my face, use brita filtered cold water after. I'll let you know how it goes! I'm not sure how severe your acne is but mine has never been too bad until the use of all these products. It sucks sometimes seeing friends who have gotten progressively clearer skin in college and mine had suddenly taken a turn for the worse, but I'm hoping patience is the key for all of us!

And yes my skin did initially look a little worse for the first day or two but not too much after that but I think our experiences will vary depending on whether you've washed your skin all your life or not and what kind of acne you have (hormonal or product related like me, etc). SInce I havent for too long, I think it worked quicker on me then it might for someone who washed their skin since age 14. My clogged pores have not budged though and seemingly look a bit worse but I think that's just purging? Idk.
