So I went to my derm last month. I had from minor to moderate acne. Also it was only on one cheek. The derma prescribed accutane 20 mg twice a day for four months.
On day 2 or 3 I started getting crazy break outs like never before. Also I had many white heads forming and acne with pus. My face had become a mess. After week 3 I saw little improvements and my face started getting dry ( I didn't experience dry lips ) . I was hoping that this is when it would start improving. For one week I had no break out and then again I had another break out.
Now I'm on week 5 and my face hasn't shown any real improvement. Although I noticed this week my face is dryer than ever! And my lis have become dry too.
I have lost all my confidence. I went t the derm to permanently get rid of acne but now I have become an acne face. And everyone says I shouldn't have gone on with it.
Is this all normal? Should I expect it to get better?
Also should I moisturise my face when it gets dry?
I'm in such an ugly place right now.
It's completly normal.
What you expiriance is called inital break out , is when everything comes to the surface ,is the only way the pores will clean.
Your still early in tratment ,of course you will see improvement, just hang in there.
You should moisturize twice daily , no exception.
Accutane is a great treatment for acne.
Yes but my initial breakout is leaving behind dark red marks. How long will these take to fade? I've heard red marks can take over a year to fade off?
