Hi there- Im a 28 year old female.
I have mild (sometimes maybe its moderate) inflamed persistent acne on my chin (hormonal I'd suspect)
I've been on the regimen for a few weeks now and im going to give it another few weeks before i decide anything (i havent really seen improvment yet but ill wait til 6 weeks to really decide if any improvement is happening) I'm looking forward to adding AHA in the next couple weeks to help with this peeling/flakes.
My dr did just prescribe me 8 weeks of antibiotics and differin. I guess the initial breakout can suck to the antibiotics help with that?
I'm concerned about Differin, I guess Im scared of how bad my skin will get when starting it for the first 90 days and also will my face be wicked dry and neon red?
I tried Tactuo (adapelene+bp) and after just one use my skin was absolutely NEON red which was worse than acne in my opinion cuz i couldnt even cover it with makeup to leave the house
Let me know your experiences with Differin please!
i used differin on my chin area only and had no issues. no acne or anything and i had barely any flaking from it. its pretty gentle and one of the most gentle retinoids as compared to retin-a and tazorac which makes me peel something crazy. i think you will be fine but start using it like 3 times a week at first then go to every other day then every day.
okay good tip, thank you. did you have a wicked initial breakout?
i read that worst case you can get 15 months worth of acne in 3 months. of course thats worst case but the IB has to be bad enough that drs know to prescribe antibiotics along with it....
just curious. im going to give The Regimen 6 weeks to show me some signs of improvement before moving on.
nope i had no breakouts at all from it. it was odd i couldnt even really tell i was using it but maybe it was because i worked up to it. just make sure not to use to much on your face. i think you will be fine and if you do breakout the antibiotic will help with that. i have never heard of prescribing an antibiotic with it though, i even used retin-a a few times and never broke out from that either. good luck but yeah the regimen should help you too.
thanks. from what ive read you would be one of the extremely lucky few that didnt have the dreaded initial breakout
apparently quite a few drs/derms prescribe antibiotics orally or topically for the first 8-12 weeks to help ward it off
im going to give it a go after i finish the regimen (i want to give it a fair shot)
