I read the Acne No More ebook ([Removed]). It's like 240 or something pages long. I've learned a lot, and now I'm going to start the diet/regimen recommended in the book. It's a 56 day diet/cleanse and it's going to be tough, but everything I read in the book made sense to me, and coincided with everything else I've learned. Oh yeah, and I'm a 16 year old guy if that matters.

I'm going to have to do it during the school year, which means not taking school lunch, which is practically a crime at my school dry.png

Anyway, I felt like I needed a way to keep track of everything, so here. I'll be posting daily.

I'm going to:

  • drink a gallon of water a day (I did it yesterday).
  • not masturbate (I know that causes acne, I'll call it being "chaste" I think that works).
  • follow the diet. (right now it's: non-processed non-gluten non-soy non-dairy foods, and no read meat.)
  • follow the regimen, morning and night
  • get 10 hours of sleep. (9pm-7am)
  • daily exercise and sun exposure (I'll just say exercise since I can't exercise without sun)
  • practice at least 2 of the stress techniques talked about in the book (I'll call it meditation)

Day 1:

water: no, half a gallon

chaste: yes

diet: yes, but I had a little red meat

morning regimen: yes

night regimen: no

sleep: no

exercise: no

meditation: no

I'll stick to it better tomorrow. It was hard today being the first day and all. I'm taking daily progress photos and I'll post them if it works. eusa_pray.gif

I would recommend looking into digestive enzymes and probiotics to heal your gut. This guy's post is informative. http://www.acne.org/...g-the-gut-diet/

Dr. Art Ayers has done a lot of research on gut flora, and he says that many food "intolerances" are actually the result of insufficient gut flora. I have been taking massive probiotics and enzymes and experimented a bit. I have not been able to eat dairy for years without bloating and the runs; after a week on probiotics, I was able to eat a whole 2 cups of organic fermented greek yogurt without any side effects!

We're supposed to have close to a trillion bacteria in our gut to help us digest food. Many of us don't have enough of the different strains of bacteria because of processed diets that don't include fermented foods. You can also see his blog at coolinginflammation.blogspot.com

Good luck with this! If you really stick to it I'm sure you'll see great results. I wish I had the willpower to do a diet like this. I've read The Clear Skin Diet, and there are a lot of things in these types of books that make a lot of sense. It's just being able to implement and actually do it!

How many bacteria are you currently supplementing with? I was using the Phillips Colon Health probiotic and it only had around 1.5 billion.

I'm not really dieting so much anymore. I used to be on Paleo diet. I'd like to stay close to that for general health, but if you read Dr. Ayers blog, he shows that most "food intolerances" just come from not having the strain of bacteria to digest that particular food. Yes, sugar is still evil, and I'm not going to load up on refined carbs, but I've started re-introducing some dairy and other things. I use Ultimate Flora Critical Care which has 10 strains of bacteria and 50 billion in each cap. I was a little scared that I would have massive side effects, but I haven't had any bloating, gas, or anything. I think part of it is that Ultimate Flora coats its capsules with an "enteric guard" so that it doesn't dissolve in your stomach, but in your small intestine (which is where it's supposed to go).

Day 2:

water: about 3/4 of a gallon

chaste: yes

diet: nope, started out good but then I caved and had a lot of red meat and gluten... it's hard not having red meat when the only available meat is red.. eggs get really sickening. but I think I'm going to be able to have chicken available now..

morning regimen: most of it

evening regimen: no

sleep: no, had like 8 hours

exercise: a little

meditation: no

According to the book I'm really not supposed to be eating eggs due to them being allergenic for some people. I believe that the reason that people are allergic to eggs is because vaccines are grown in chicken eggs, and the body identifies the vaccines as bad, and therefore the eggs also. I haven't had any vaccinations though, so I think I should be good, plus I've never had a bad reaction from them.

I've got to stick to this better...

Interesting, I'll give it a read. However I think acne is a warning sign that something's wrong, not necessarily the gut, and yours seems less intensive. The book I read recommended some prebiotics and probiotics. I still don't really understand the difference.

After reading through the post this sounds much more appealing and easy than the diet/regimen recommended in this Acne No More book. It has this morning and evening like face washing/masks/aloe vera, and while this stuff is all healthy... I don't believe that we should have to apply all sorts of stuff to our faces.

I live on an organic farm and have access to, well, organic meat, vegetables and fruit (and raw milk) Plus we have our own well water, which tastes good. I have access to Kombucha through my sister, who is intolerant to gluten and into raw foods, makes it all the time.

By the way I don't actually have any allergies that I know of. I was intolerant to dairy as a baby, but I can take it fine now. I've only had one shot ever, it was for a really bad ear infection.

Oh and according to the test given in the book, I have a bad candida infection. Spitting saliva into a cup of water, in the morning before consuming anything, and if it sinks you have a bad candida infection, if it grows roots but mainly stays on top, you have a moderate-mild candida infection, and if it floats you have none. mine sank.

Day 3:

water: i don't even know

chaste: no

diet: for the most part

morning regimen: no

evening regimen: no

sleep: no

exercise: no

meditation: no

I'm really not following this very well... arghhh

Got depressed and lost hope today, but I plan to follow it tomorrow...

Oh and I've decided that I'll just take probiotics along with this diet. Sort of combining both diets.

I need to postpone this diet due to getting braces, my teeth hurt so much that its a miracle if I can eat anything, let alone stick to a diet.

I should be able to continue when my teeth stop hurting.

Ok, this is long after my teeth stopped hurting, but I had to wait because I was busy. So tomorrow starts day 1. Hopefully everything goes well

Day 1: It's been hard because my mom is completely against me going on this diet, but I'm am going to do this! I had chicken for breakfast and (organic) chicken and (organic) barbecue sauce for lunch. Then I had gluten-free bread (non-organic), organic jam, organic honey. Then I went into the garden and picked and ate like string beans, a tomato, some raspberries and a bell pepper.

Eating organic fried potatoes as I'm writing this...

So yeah, it's been going, ok I guess. Oh, and I've changed the amount of water to 12 cups (3/4 gallon).

[edit]

Oh and on Saturday (2 days before start of diet) I had Little Caesars pizza and realized that that pizza makes me breakout like nothing else, I can eat other pizza and just get like 1-2 normal, virtually painless whiteheads the next day. However, when I eat Little Caesars I breakout in like 5-6 painful big whiteheads, too painful to even consider popping.

I realized I can't do this while going to a public school. I'm working on getting transferred to an online school. My mom is just so against me doing anything about it, its so frustrating.

I still need to have some way of getting organic vegitables during the winter. I don't have a license/car yet (mainly because I've been concerned about other things *cough*acne*cough*) so I have no way of getting them myself.

I might be able to work out something with my sister. She's really naturally minded.

I just finished setting up an area for daily progress photos. I'm not planning on posting anything until its over though. I'm have it set up to take 4 pictures (front, neck, side, other side). I'll be taking progress photos before I start the diet too, just to show how it was before the diet.

Finally transferred to online school, now I'm ready to start. Today's day 1.

So it's been going really well today. Everything's so much easier without the stress of high school. I feel like all the pressure just went away. I feel like a big weight was lifted off my head. I feel no pressure at all, I can do anything I want without idiots questioning my every action.

I think I might get a buzz cut haircut just so it's out of the way. I wanted to do the "No Poo" (no shampoo) challenge at the same time, since I realize that constantly washing my hair and depleting the oils makes it overproduce oils and just keep going. I think having short hair would help a lot with that. Plus since I've stopped using hair gel since that's bad for you too, my hair's just a mess.

Edit: forgot to do stress relieving techniques and drink enough water, but overall it was a pretty good first day. :)

Day 2

Today went pretty well, I slept in though. My mind at 7 this morning: "dude, that's not important, I want more sleep". Other than that, I think I followed it pretty well, except for exercise. The problem with sleeping is my family is noisy, but I can start sleeping in another room that's quiet. I'll do that tonight.

I think I might do weekly progress photos instead of daily, it seems like overkill to do it every day.

Day 3

Didn't do the skin care protocols last night or this morning. I'm also not getting enough sleep. My family stays up too late. That other room I talked about is still too noisy. I sort of lost hope today, something that tends to happen when I don't get enough sleep. I went for a walk and just laid down on the ground outside and thought about stuff. Anyway, I haven't really broken from the diet, except that the diet does call for eggs to be removed, and I haven't done that. Its hard to try to make healthy meals when your mom buys garbage. Sometimes she buys healthy stuff, but not nearly enough.

I'm focusing on getting enough sleep right now. I stayed up will 1 or 2am last night, I couldn't sleep even after everyone was finally quiet. I suppose that's because I'm used to going to bed really late. I have painful acne on my chin right now. I hate it when that happens. I think it might be from eating eggs when I'm alergic to them, I don't know if I am, maybe I am, or it might just be a bad effect from not getting enough sleep, or a residual effect of my bad diet before the diet, or it could be from eating too much butter with stuff. Maybe I should cut out the butter. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed right now...

Day 4

My mood's a lot better today. I think maybe listening to music all the time can be depressing or something. I'm not sure really, but yeah, definitely feeling better today. Did the morning protocol thingy at like noon since I slept in again. I'm probably not going to do the evening one, as it's pretty late already (10:37pm here). I tried drinking raw eggs today, since I've heard that people that are allergic to eggs are just allergic to them because they're cooked. So whatever, that was... an interesting experience. :o I get eggs from organic pasture-raised chickens, so it's all good.

Anyway, it's good now. I think I'm going to actually stick to the sleeping schedule tomorrow, so we'll see about that. The book recommends I go to bed at 11pm and get up at 7am (8 hours) but that seems like not enough sleep for a teenager. I'm going to try for going to bed at 9pm and getting up at 7am (10 hours). Maybe I can do the exercise stuff tomorrow too... that would be good.

Day 5

Today went pretty well. Didn't stick to sleeping schedule last night though, also didn't do morning protocol. Doing the evening protocols thingy right now...

Tomorrow starts a 2 day vegetarian diet. Ill see how that goes...

Day 6

My family and "friends" are trying to get me to quit.

My mom's trying to discourage me from doing this cleanse by not buying food. I pretty much fasted today... I don't know what to do anymore...

I need to clear this once and for all whether I do it naturally or with accutane. I can't take this anymore... I... what am I going to do? I don't know... I'm still convinced there's a natural way to cure this... I just don't know it ..

I just looked at progress photos closely. It looks like my skin definitely got less irritated and tamed down quite a bit. I stopped the diet and never made it to Day 7. I'm going to try just taking a lot of probiotics and eat and live healthy. See what happens... I've got to get rid of this so I can just move on...

I know exactly how you feel TheChosen1! I've dealt with anxiety about going to school for so long now. I'm interested in online school. How did you go about changing from your school to online school? I currently go to a private school that's really accepting, so it's a lot better than the public school I used to go to. Congratulations on seeing results from your new regimen. I know it's hard to keep up with a diet, I'm a vegetarian and i find it hard to further cut out dairy from my diet! Good luck and I hope things turn out well for you.

It's been some while, so maybe you could shed some light and tell us how it all worked out in the end. Are you still on the regimen?

so, as I said in my previous post, I quit the diet, a long time ago.

I transferred back to public school and continued eating their crappy lunches.

I've found that I can completely avoid breakouts if I drink at least 3/4 gallon of water per day and take 4 of these probiotic pills (SyntolAMD), and avoid sugar, dairy, greasy foods, and sexual activity.

I have acne on my forehead, around lips, that area from the lips to the jawline, on the jawline, and on my neck, occasionally one or two between my eyebrows.

based on my personal experience and research I believe these are the causes for each:

forehead - dehydration

around the lips - sugar

lips to jawline - dehydration/irregularity (colon)

jawline - sexual activity

neck - candida infection (so sugar, dehydration and irregularity would all be contributing factors)

I did at one point get 3 white heads on my cheek, but they never came back. based on my research that's supposed to be from allergic reaction to something (dairy is a popular one)

I haven't found gluten to cause breakouts, but I have noticed it making me gassy. or that could just be eating too fast.

so yeah, I'm trying to follow that now, my breakouts had almost stopped until I had the pizza for lunch yesterday, and the breaded cheese sticks the day before that.

they do have a (hot dog bun sized) sub sandwich though too, so I should grab that more.

I called in sick today because of the breakouts caused by my lunch for the past two days

I feel like just accepting that I have acne would be giving up. although I haven't thought about my acne lately because I was addicted to this game sorta like world of warcraft, but I've since deleted all my stuff in it and deleted my account. I feel so pathetic and like I'm wasting my life away in that game, but I'm also so motivated in the game to level up and stuff, I think its because everything's so straightforward, unlike real life.

you know that feeling you get when you feel a breakout coming on? I don't know about anyone else, but it really effects my mood. it'll make me extra self conscious, like I would do anything to be home, in my bed and hide under the covers. and obviously it makes me more depressed and all that "why me?" feeling sorry for myself crap.

I'm definitely glad I transferred back to public school. but lol idk if I'm so glad about quitting that game. I actually originally got acne while playing that game, I would play it all day and forget about drinking water or anything and I also had really bad posture from sitting in front of the computer all the time.

now I question if I should use that game as a way to occupy my time while I cure my acne. but I know it would be much better if I worked on homework, working out (I'm skinny/weak), and producing music, I already invested $200 some in a mic and preamp.

oh and I haven't found any correlation between acne and physical activity for me.
