I think you look too far into the day-to-day with your experiments and observations.

Dairy. I can drink milk and eat cheese all day or never, it doesn't change anything. Topical milk has helped with skin softness though.

Sugar. I ate So. Much. Sugar. not long ago at a party. My skin was no different the next day. I don't typically eat a lot of sugar anyway though.

I don't think these statements are true, at least, I don't think you should write off these two as culprits just yet.

You should try two weeks off the extra carbs, sugar, and milk. If you're willing to stick with zinc for 60 pills, why wouldn't you try a diet of kale and fish with no dairy/wheat/processedfood for 10 days?

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you, a complete stranger over the internet, knew my skin and what causes my breakouts more than me.

I have had a LIFE TIME of being clear whilst eating dairy and wheat. Even when I started breaking out a year ago dairy and sugar have NEVER made my breakouts any worse. EVER. But clearly because there's been some inconclusive studies on some people that aren't me so all of my past experience is irrelevant.

And EXCUSE ME, *extra* carbs sugar and milk?! Processed food? Who do you think you are to make snap judgements? I have acne, so CLEARLY I eat too much of this stuff. I must stuff my face with rubbish all day then cry about why my skin is terrible. Obviously.

I'll have you know I have a damn healthy diet with little processed food and I exercise like a chipmunk on stimulants. I take insanely good care of myself because I have a few health problems which dictate a necessity to give myself every possible chance. So I admitted to liking my dairy. Dairy has NEVER caused me any problems. And the sugar? That was ONE DAY and a *very* special day at that. It's laughable that you'd accuse me of having a poor diet. Laughable because everybody I know calls me a health freak. If I eat so much terrible things then why am I so damn thin and why have my medical conditions improved so much?

I've *fainted* from eating too little carbs in the past. I had an actual problem with it. I still eat less than the average person my size.

It's against my beliefs to eat fish. I DO eat kale. I don't over do the dairy. Yes, I eat lots of wheat. I know for a fact I'm not intolerant. Processed foods? Short of the very rare slip up on special occasions I essentialy live off vegetables, water. green tea, fruits and white meat now.

And guess what? I still have acne.

So changing your diet worked for you. Please do not go about acting like it is the cure all miricale for everybody and everybody that has acne has a bad diet.

So kindly crash out of my thread the way you just crashed into it. Not that I expect you to have read this post, considering you completley disregarded the reasons that have been MEDICALLY CLARIFIED to cause my acne.

Oh, and the whole insulin resistance thing which you seem to be getting at with the sugar and the carbs? Not got a problem with it. It and PCOS don't always go hand in hand. Go ask my highly reguarded specialist OBYG if you don't believe me.

Just a tip, don't try to contradict people about themselves in the future.

I see a very strong amount of denial and defensiveness in your post. For sake of progression, I'm just going to ask you a few questions, and if you answer them, great. If not, I'm sorry to have ever said anything.

But to be fair, please know that I did read your entire thread.

- Exactly how many carbs are you taking in?

- Macronutrients?

- Micronutrients?

- Exact calorie intake for the day?

A medical examination is far from all that you need to diagnose an underlying health problem. If you consider acne to be normal, then that's great. I'm glad you can live with it more than I can.

Fact is, a medical researcher studying diet and health would likely be able to give you more information than any doctor, surgeon, or OBY

I'm 30 years old. Not sure how old you are, but i've been in the same situation. I've eaten wheat and cheese with no problems, until the acne began.

If you want to read this, go ahead. It may not be the solution to your problems, but I am, at heart, trying to help. If you believe I was making a sweeping judgement about you, I apologize.

Cleanse with Nubian Heritage African black soap. Wet a towel with warm water, rub black soap on to the towel. Use towel in circular motions to rub the soap in to the face. Allow the soap to dry on the face before rinsing with hands and cold water. Pat face dry with towel.

And I detect a very self riteous, somewhat obsessive compulsiveness in your posts. Not to mention a self obsession since you seem to think if something worked for you it's definitley the cause of everybody elses problems too.

If you'd read my entire thread you'd know how old I am as well as that I don't use that cleansing method anymore. So get your facts straight before you put your patronizing hat on.

You are a 30 year old man. You're not qualified in teenage female hormones and PCOS like my doctors and you especially know nothing about me or the struggle I go through with my hormones. Well done for trying to play the age card though, considering age is definitley an indicator of experience, just as diet is clearly the only possible cause of acne. The world is entirely black and white like that you see.

I eat healthily and do not need to keep reinforcing that to some older man online. I have enough people in real life to waste my time on. If you saw me in real life you'd instantly know how healthy I am *because you can see it*. You can see it in my healthy immune system, incredibly low body fat percentage and visable muscle mass. I have an incredibly healthy life style and I don't need to prove that to you with exact calorie counting (be warned, that leads very easily to eating disorders. Obsessing ISN'T psychologically healthy).

Acne is 'normal' if you consider 'normal' to be a commonly occuring thing which happens to the majority of people. There are plenty of people my age with my mild acne where I live from a variety of life styles because it happens at our age in our area. Yes, your adult acne is different. But where I live? It's incredibly normal. Common in fact. And most of us grow out of it, just like my family did in their early/mid twenties.

You sound like you need to assert your beliefs everywhere to boost your self esteem, especially since you said you aren't able to live with acne well. Why not? Do you seriously think that a few blemishes on your face are enough to affect your actual life? Tell me, when you look in a mirror and you have a flaw - any flaw, not just acne - does it ruin your day a little? Do you feel like people look at you differently? Do you feel like you've let yourself down?

Because I sure as hell don't. I feel like, hey, it's still me. The people that matter care about me anyway. And a few blemishes won't stop me from making a brilliant impression, because I don't need to look perfect to do that. I know I take care of myself and I always put my best foot foward in this life. That's all that matters. Not some spots that will go away in a few years.

So thankyou, you've been useful in reminding me to stay happy with myself, lest I end up pestering teenage girls on the internet to start counting their calorie intake (you've no idea what a bad idea that is in a time when eating disorders are so prevelant).

So, I'll re-itterate - please leave my thread. I've considered your suggestions and found them irrelevant to me personally. Please stop wasting your time.

I know you commented on my Topic and disagreed.. But have you tried a full on 'acne' diet? Most of them make you keep away from dairy, high carbs and sugars... Idk but good luck to you. surprised.gif

Cheers dude. As I said, I already stay away from high carbs and sugars to manage my PCOS. I need dairy because I get easily defficient in the things that it usually contains. Awesome if it worked for you though, congratulations on that.

I'm on to a different course of treatment now. I went and saw the derm after a horrific picking episode and he's put me on antibiotics and given me Duac cream to try. It's working well enough so far but it's still early days. This log is pretty much irrelevant now anyway.
