btw, I've also been suffering from lots of very small milia on my cheekbones. I'm curious to see whether epiduo can reduce them as well...

I'm in the same boat as a lot of you in that I've only ever had mild acne, have been using hte epiduo for a few days and all of the sudden my acne is out of control! I woke up and there is whiteheads and small bumps all over my chin and big painful pimples coming in on my cheeks and forehead. This is way worse than its ever been. I'm giving up right now and just sticking with benzoyl peroxide and giving the acne.org regimen a try. I feel the same way that in the long run, I'll probably wish I had stuck with it but without an end in sight I cant keep making it worse. Does anyone that this has happened to have any information on how long the "getting worse" part lasts??

Thankss

Kenny

About two weeks in and so far so good. No new pimples and no initial breakout yet.

I strongly recommend anyone trying this to stick with it for few months at least.

One word of advice though; don't apply any pressure to your face while doing epiduo! I did it once and it caused minor bruising/bleeding under my skin.. quite obvious the skin is very thin right now!

Hi

I was prescribed epiduo today. I am trying it tonight. I hope it works! I started breaking out bad when I was about 12, but was always able to control it. Now, I am 15, and nothing has controlled it. My derm said to do it once a day, and, if it dried me out too much or made my face red, like many people here have said it has done, to do it once every other day. :ninja:

I was just prescribed Epiduo gel and Solodyn ER 115 MG. I am only a couple of days in. I take the Solodyn once a day( it's the slow release capsule) and the Epiduo is applied only at night. I don't know if it's wishful thinking or what but I can already see and feel a difference. My acne is mainly on the lower half of my face and I get painful nodules on my jaw which take forever to clear. Today, after just my first dose of Solodyn and Epiduo gel (which didn't sting or burn for me) the bumps are smaller and there is no pain. I'm kind of expecting to maybe get a breakout in the next couple of weeks because of the medication but I'm hoping not since the horrible breakout I have currently seemed to be on it's way out and hopefully that was the worst of it. Anyway, although it's a bit too soon to say anything, I am hopeful. The Solodyn cost me 10 bucks with insurance plus my doc gave me a week supply and the Epiduo ran me 25 bucks.

Wowwowwow, lots of Epidou users! High five! :D

I've used it for 6 weeks, and have never experienced any burning or dryness. I use it it the night only, and applies Emu Oil afterwards. I once forgot to moisturize on my neck (since I had a small breakout there and added a bit Epiduo), and in the next two days, the area was red and itchy.

I'm not statisfied with it. I had expected more from a product like this :/. If it doesn't look better in 2 weeks, my doctor will put me on some sort of antibiotic instead.

Melissa, I have the exact same prescription as you, and I've been on it for about a month and a half. Are you experiencing increased redness from using the Epiduo?

Hey Paranoid, I'm starting in on my second week of Epiduo and Solodyn. When I put on the Epiduo, initially there is some redness but then it goes away. I'm experiencing some dryness at the moment and I have a couple of bumps but I'm assuming that's what's being pushed out. One week ago I had like 15 bumps on the lower part of my face and jaw and they have just about smoothed out. I look forward to seeing results at the end of this week. How's it going for you?

It's been going pretty well for me. It hasn't helped at all to clear blackheads, but I guess it even says it doesn't help blackheads on the prescription. I only have one more month on it, and after I'm finished, I think I'm going to try using Dan's BP to see if that works. It's pretty likely that it will because the Epiduo has been working well while Differin didn't do anything for me, and since the only difference between those two prescriptions is the 2.5% BP, I'm assuming that it works (I was using just Epiduo for about a month before I started the Solodyn).

Glad to see there's so many Epiduo users here! Some back story for me, my skin was flawless up until 17, then around then it became bad, centralized on my cheeks. Cysts, cysts, cysts! Painful ones too! They're gone, and I'm left with some red marks and the occasional extremely annoying zit. I was fed up, so I got my mum to book a dermatologist appointment and I've been taking this for a few months and really can't report anything magical. I'm going back to him soon and he's hoping to prescribe some Accutane (which I will avoid like the plague... I think. Oh god I'm so undecided).

I'm actually on the fence with this one. I was expecting big things and it only somewhat delivered. Firstly, I got no initial break out, and if I did it was very mild. I saw progress almost instantly and was so excited to look in the mirror every morning. Fast forward about 3 months and I dread looking in the mirror! It doesn't stop break outs, though... I guess it speeds the healing up. I haven't experienced any drastic changes in the red marks.

I'm going to stop using the Epiduo because I realized that half of it is doing nothing but irritating my skin. I was prescribed Differin gel (0.1% Adapalene) before the Epiduo, and it worked good at first, but then it was as if I wasn't putting anything on my face. I guess my skin just got used to it. Since Epiduo (which is 0.1% Adapalene and 2.5% BP) works pretty well, I'm assuming it's the 2.5% BP that's doing the work, so I'm going to try Dan's BP now and see how that works.

Consider Epiduo stopped. Today was just a really bad day for me skin wise, and it's only 12:30PM. I woke up at 9:30 and my minor pimples above my lip are sore, and the other one was bleeding when I woke up. I just don't know what to do anymore, I try everything and nothing works. I just want to cry, but I can't. This product really was a let down, and I think the only thing it did was irritate it and give it a sunburnt look. I am so over this! :boohoo:

I've been using Epiduo for 3 days now (applied before going to bed), along with some Clindagel (Clindamycin 1%) during the day. I haven't really noticed any improvements yet. I have somewhat mild acne. I previously used BenzaClin, Tretinoin cream, and Minocycline but dropped the Minocycline about a year ago and a month ago stopped using the Tretinoin because I live in Hawaii and I'm always in the sun or at the beach so that doesn't really help. The BenzaClin was fine but it didn't clear me up completely and I have some bumps on my forehead and around my temples and cheeks which I'd like to go away. The derm said they're comedones even though they don't look like them... I don't know. I was on the BenzaClin for probably 4 years I think. I hope the Epiduo and Clindagel rape my acne. Pissin' me off. I did notice some mild burning on my upper cheeks and around my nose, and now when I wash my face with Cetaphil cleanser it is a little irritated and burns a little, which I thought wouldn't happen because I had gotten used to BenzaClin... But it's not a big deal. No redness or peeling (probably because of the humidity).

Oh and I was wondering, I'm leaving to Germany in a week and will be living there for a year, how can I get my acne meds refilled over there? Thanks.

Hi, I live in Belgium and just started using epiduo last week. My dad's a MD so he prescribes it for me, 20 euro with discount, so I'm guessing it'll cost you around 35 euro.

I'm really happy about it so far. I'm on Diane 35 for about 10 years to control my acne, but I still suffer from monthly break-outs, comedones and enlarged pores. The post-break-out red marks make that I've never had that clear skin we all dream of. I'm even hoping I'll be able to switch from Diane to Yasmine +epiduo, since I'm experiencing some unwanted side-effects with Diane.

I'm using Dermalogica oil-free matte matte block spf20. And when my skin is feeling a bit thirsty I use Louis Widmer UV10 day cream. I avoid sun exposure as much as possible, so I don't need a high spf.

I was wondering how you guys deal with not having sun exposure? Do you consider taking treatment breaks a few times a year? Because I've been avoiding sun exposure like crazy (cuz I'm paranoid :P) and as a result my face is totally pale. I want to use a tanning bed some time in the future for a week (3 times 15 min to gain some color). Tanning beds give me a nicer soft tan in short exposure time, without burning. I honestly think they are healthier than lying in the sun for an entire week, just to obtain an uglier, uneven tan. Do you think it would be ok to stop epiduo for a few days, use the tanning bed and then continue using epiduo? I really don't want to be this pale for the rest of my life...

As for red marks and small scars... I'm using a home-use derma-roller (DTS) when my skin is relatively clear (which was one week a month) in combination with a your regular AHA collagen boosting drugstore night cream, which have given me the best result with a non-presription home-use cream ever. (don't expect miracles though). DTS is not advised when you have a lot of active lesions, since it will just cause the bacteria to spread all over your face. But I'm already quite impressed with the results from this minimini needle home-device. I'm considering going in for a professional DTS treatment (costs around 200$) with needles about 4 times as long (when epiduo had reduced all active acne lesions), since I think a proper collagen boost is required to heal small scars and red marks.

I'll keep you posted.

Your Dad should have told you to avoid the sun; Epiduo makes skin more sun-sensitive!- I suggest you read the booklet for yourself so you know what you're taking and how you should take it! ( :

If you're concerned with pale skin either use a fake tan or tinted moisturiser, St. Tropez is a good brand! ~OR you could buy a mineral bronzer, ID bare minerals in warmth is quite nice ( :

ALSO FYI ( : Using tanning beds is 7 times worse than sitting in the sun, (UV light= UV rays) and once you get sundamaged skin... You can't reverse it (only the appearance of it) The last thing you want is to grow old looking like a crocodile hand bag! Meanwhile I wish my skin was pale :/ :(

My GP gave me a sample of Epiduo to use (once a day)

On the first day it was fine, but on the second day I over did it and my skin was hoggible for 3 days after!

...When it finally recovered- I decided to give it another go as I noticed that the (tiny) blackheads on my nose were invisible ~and that my pores (where I didn't have any breakout/ clogging previously) were more open- which I assume means they're clear to breathe and produce the oil my skin needs to be hydrated/ healthy ( :

I bought the full size today for $45AU; hopefully it will work!

I'll def keep you all posted on here, I'm thinking of starting a blog journey in the next few days too if you're interested in me doing so ( :

Personally, I think the reason behind some of the adverse reactions is due to the amounts of product they've been using on their skin: Too much epiduo and no/t enough moisturiser! If you read the booklet; it states to only use a thin layer, ~and to only use it once a day- not twice! They say use a thin layer for a reason you know! (Logically they'd want you to use more, so you buy 3 times as often right?)

I usually find with my skin that as long as I keep it hydrated at night, matte during the day, exfoliate every 3 days and just clay mask once/twice a week my skin is fine for most of the month except that irritating 2 week period, which is being especially mean to me this month! *sad face* Damn hormone fluctuations

(Note: I've started antibiodics too {Akamin} and I'll be starting Dianne-35 when my monthly hits)

I had to stop taking Solodyn because I had a major allergic reaction that included hives all over my body and swollen hands which was pretty painful. I have stuck with the Epiduo and my derm prescribed me Clindimyacin (spelling?) topical to use twice a day. At first, when I picked it up at the pharmacy (5 bucks) I was like, "WHAT?!!" It basically smells like alcohol but I gave it a shot anyway. I'm actually also using Proactiv right now so I only use the Clindimyacin and Epiduo at night about a half hour after I wash with Proactiv. When I first started this whole thing, I had broken out with painful bumps on my jaw and all over the lower half of my face. There must have been between 20-30 and it was sooooo embarassing. It's taken a bit of time but my face is about 85% clear. I have only a couple of those stubborn bumps on my jaw and the Proactiv really seems to be helping. I'll actually be going back to my derm to get a prescription for oral Clindimyacin because she wanted to wait until the Solodyn was out of my system. It's frustrating having to wait it out and testing different meds; especially at 29 when you think you'd be over the acne stuff but once you see results, it's a great motivator to stick with a routine.

Hey you guys,

I didn't get to try epiduo because of the cost, so I;m using adapelene itself right now, manufactured by some company that stars with the letter "F".

I want to say that my acne has been more controlled than ever compared to the last several months. I did break out horribly from using adapelene, however be aware of the side effects before loosing faith in the product. It really takes time for the skin to "welcome" a new product.

My first night using it, I noticed that my forehead was clearing up, my skin was dried. Later on, I started to break out super badly like boils, giant zits on my chin, nose, jaws and hair line. DO NOT APPLY IT NEAR YOUR MOUTH, NOSE EYES. READ THE DIRECTIONS!

I didn't start to see actual results until the second and half month of using it. Now, it's almost my third month, and I just hope that my skin clears up more than this. I'm left with post hyper-pigmentation spots, and a few tiny scars.

Do exfoliate your skin with a towel or facial sponge to get ride of the dead/dried skin cells, so that when you apply the product and your moisturizer your pores can absorb the products better. I recommend that after a month of your skin starts to improve or longer, update your regime by using other ingredients you think that is necessary for further improvements, like Aloe Vera for soothing, healing and lighting. I say only use BP or S. acid twice a week at most.

NOTE BACK FOR MORE INFOOO! ;)

BE PATIENT. YOU'LL SEE RESULTS!

Been on epiduo for 6 days now. Tonight is application number 7.

So far what can I say? It burns like nothing I've ever used before, and I've used a lot...

My main reason for going on it is just so I can tell the derm that I've tried everything before going on roaccutane.

I hope the burning sensation starts to ween off because it's almost unbearable atm. I'm wondering for mild/moderate acne if this could be used every other night instead?

It also makes my skin flake worse than any product I've ever used. I only use it on my chin as that's the only place where I get real bad acne but at the moment you can tell my chin is really red compared to the rest of my face...

so far I've tried...

Clindymycin (dalacin t)

Differin

Doxycycline

Tetracycline

Benzoyl Peroxide (dan's regimen)

Now Epiduo...

At the age of 21, I'm pretty sure that if I go back in 6 months or so they'll give me roaccutane. I hate these topicals, I want to be able to stay around a mates without worrying about my regimen. I want to be able to go on holidays. I want to be able to go to music festivals...and indulge in junk food when I want.

Yeah you can use it every other day. When i first started using epiduo i started off using it two times a week then 3 then 4 and so on, and i still got good results. It i was you i would cut back for a couple days till your face gets back to normal(not so red a flaking) and then just start using it every other day. I've been using epiduo for over 3 months now and i still dont using it every night i use it 2 out of 3 days. If you want you can check out my Epiduo log. I documented what happened along the way and i posted before and after pics.

After 10 days i've had to stop using it.

I got my haircut today and I've never been so embarrassed. It was like someone had painted my chin red. (I only apply the epiduo on my chin) I looked so fugly...

It's weird how 5% benzoyl peroxide doesn't do this to me but this 2.5% combination does...must be one of the additional ingredients.

Benzoyl peroxide has always been too strong for me to use twice a day but there's no way I can use this stuff even in the smallest of quantities at night.

Please HELP!! Epiduo ruined my date!!! :(

I'm a 22 year old male, started using Epiduo 3 weeks ago. I've had mild acne since I was 15, maybe a few zits and constant red coloring and blotches on my nose. I wanted to clear it up quickly - but didn't know how serious this medication is and that it gets worse before it gets better. MUCH worse!!

At first my nose lost its redness and I was stoked! But after 1-2 weeks I broke out in worse acne than I've had in my LIFE! Lots of pimples on my cheeks, and zits too. Even my nose doesn't look great anymore. I see that tons of Epiduo users have had similar results; unfortunately they (like me) post replies during that initial breakout. I'm wondering if anyone knows about or has experienced this, and can tell me how long to expect to wait before the GOOD results.

So...will the product work if I stick with it? How long will it take to get improvements? Is it worth using for mild cases of acne?

Thanks!!

Zach

Its a little hard to understand your english but ill try to answer your question:

Night time: wash your face with a NON MEDICATED wash (like purpose or cetaphil). Then use adapalene gel. Then apply moisturizer after (10-20 minutes)

Morning: Use your sodium sulfacetamid face wash. Then use an SPF lotion

epiduo its a gel??? but u let the epiduo all night or u wash it off and then put the mosturizer..??

it is a gel and You leave it on all night
