Ive had post accutane flushing for around 6/7 years now. Its gotten better over time but is something I struggle with on a daily basis, especially at work where I go bright red when under any sort of pressure or anxiety.

Ive consulted with a dermatologist and tried clonidine which helped a little. Ive also tried brimonidine gel which does a great job on a one off basis but I get bad rebound flushing from it.

Ive seen old posts about this issue and anti malaria meds are mentioned. Ive spoken to a dermatologist about this (Im in the UK) but it sounds a risky and expensive route to take. Just wondering if anyone has taken them to treat post accutane flushing?

Have you ever tried Azelaic Acid? That's a pretty safe, topical thing you could try. I agree that malaria meds sounds pretty hardcore.

Also, do people notice that you go red? Or is this something that people don't really notice and you could just kinda put in an emotional drawer and not worry about it anymore?

Accutane does change the dynamics of the skin to some extent. But usually flushing is a condition before, even if it's worse after accutane. I've always had forms of rosacea since i was 16. Accutane didn't really make it worse, but it got worse with age or stayed with me. Most of the time environmental control is the only thing that helps. No sun, no hot foods sometimes. Also stress avoidance. Or anxiety avoidance because that triggers the response.

Only other thing that seemed to help me was econazole because my dermatitis was triggering redness/irritation so I flush less. That plus controlling the above helped me the most.

I had four Vbeams on my cheeks last year and I felt like i solved some redness/flushing but also really de-pigmented me a lot so I wouldn't really do it again.
