What is this redness/How can I avoid it?

20 year old male. Had a nasty breakout on my right jawline last week and it's healing up good.

However, on both sides of my jawline and cheeks I'm getting these patches of flakes and redness. My skin is extremely itchy in these areas, I just want to claw it off but scratching only seems to make it itchier.

The last time this was an issue was over a year ago when I had a pretty bad breakout. It lasted a month or two. It seems to accompany regular acne breakouts but I'm not 100% sure on that. It does not appear in places where I've had/am having a breakout but it can.

I haven't had this for over a year so something definitely triggers it?

It could be possible that it has something to do with what you are using on your face maybe like creams or serums that don't suit your skin. Having an itchy feeling signals that you may be allergic or sensitive to an ingredient in it.

Issue is I'm not treating my acne with anything atm.

Itchiness has gone away but the flakeyness is here and pretty severe, IDK how to make it go away.
