Hi! I have a problem with face redness that won't go away. It is not super extreme, but it bothers me alot and makes me feel selfconcious. I've had this problem for atleast the past 2 years. I think I'm going mad because I can't figure out what's wrong. Does anyone recognize these symtoms?
My face is always redish/pink. I will add a pic from last year so you can see (sorry for it beeing so cheesy!). I have very sensitive skin and this past year I have been extremly sensitive to sunlight. It burns as soon as I step foot outside. This is new, I use to be able to handle the sun fine. When I wash my face my skin reacts to the temperature change of the water and becomes SUPER red, no matter if I use cold, warm or lukewarm water. This fades rather quickly and my skin goes bak to it's "normal" redness. I don't use face makeup (haven't for over 2 years) and I only use a few products on my skin, all of them are natural, organic, vegan skincare without harsh ingredients. Lately I have only been using water, aloe vera and saltwater on my skin (except for sunscreen a few times when I was on vacation). I dab my skin with saltwater at night if I have any breakouts. I don't suffer from acne but do get breakouts if I eat oils. Useing oil on my face works fine tho, but it was a while since I used oil as a mosterizer cuz I tried swapping it for aloe vera. It feels like my skin looks better in the morning and get worse during the day. I don't know if it is because of stress, food sensitivities or if I have some sort of condiotion/hormonal imbalance. I've had many theories but I can't pinpoint a cause that seem consistent. I also don't know why it's only on my face, and not any other part of my body. When I get tired, or if I work out/get hot the redness get's worse. I think that's mostly due to my sweatglands beeing a bit messed up, I ONLY tend to sweat through my palms, my armpits and the soles of my feet, which makes my face feel extremely overheated when I exercise.
Does anybody else experience red, super sensitive skin that reacts this way? Do you have any tips or advice? I'd love to hear whatever you've got!

I rarely drink alcohol but I have noticed that it seems to makes things wors, and also when I am stressed. I got your message and wrote you more in detil there, but if anyone else sees this they also migt want to know. So what I've tried so far is to eat better, drink more water, only use natural, organic skincare (if I use any at all) and not wearing any makeup on my skin. I have noticed that my skin is not at all as dry now as it used to be and I don't get breakouts unless I eat oils, but the redness has not gone away.
Right now I have 2 theories: I am sensitive to gluten (it gives me stomach pain, constpation etc.), I have been for the past 2 years or so, and I wonder if this can be a cause of the redness? I have cut down on it altot, but not completely eliminated it from my diet, cuz i love bread so much. My theory is that I might have some skin inflamation due to my gluten sensitivity and that since i keep eating it from time to time I never let it properly heal and leave my body. I think I'm going to completely cut gluten out for at least 3 moths and eat as much grens and other anti inflamatory foods as I can and see if it make a difference.
My second theory is that stress is a big factor. When I stress the redness seem to intensify and now that I've been on vacation for 3 weeks I feel like the redness has not been as bad. It's still there, but I havn't noticed that it gets alot worse during the day. i'm trying to cut out stress from my life as much as possible, but I find it really hard.
Have you experienced any sensitivities to gluten or stress?
I have the same problem!! My face isn't bright red, but it always seems slightly pink/red compared to the rest of my skin (e.g. my neck) and it gets worse during the day. When I go running it often flushes bright red and takes ages to go back to a normal colour. It's often better if I've been outside all day (sunny or not), but is worse when I'm at the office.
I don't have any sensitivity to gluten as far as I know. I've never reacted to it badly. I'm not sure about stress.

That is so strange, that it seems to get worse in the office... What have you tried to get rid of the redness?
I have skin redness too. I'm not sure what causes mine. I'm dealing with trying to get rid of a breakout right now and hyperpigmitation so my focus is all on that right now. Haha. You saying that it gets worse when you are anxious and or stressed makes me think it could be due to high blood pressure. My dad's face and ears get red when his blood pressure is up. I do the same thing. You might want to get checked for it. Best of luck.
More history and a several close ups will help ... if not , see a good dermatologist. Rosacea vs physiological redness, vs aquagenic erythema vs pathological erythema vs others. Someone told me to suck on a lemon, wait one minute take a picture to see if you flush. Always find a diagnosis, exclude causes, then treat.. propranolol, laser genesis, V Beam , Mirvaso (in select people), avoid triggers, etc..etc..etc.. always a solution. Best of luck, and may the force be with you....
Hello there I know exactly what it is, its very rare. It is the start of rosacea trust me I have it my mom and grandma has rosacea, rosacea is closely related with autism and is hereditary please use precautions like sunscreen and wash your face daily so rosacea does not trigger acne. I have every bit of criteria for rosacea. Its the adolescent version of rosacea. Hope this helps it helps me if it helps you. Btw. Im 12. Im not a doctor but take my reccomendations.
With all these theories, best thing I would suggest is to consult a dermatologist. To rule out any doubts or any other theories. I feel that your skin is becoming really sensitive so don't self-medicate. A professional would definitely help you out in this case.
Good luck!
