Constant Redness

I constantly have redness stemming from the acne on my cheeks, chin, forehead, and around my nose. This, I think, is from my face being dried out, by using face washes that claim to cleanse and treat acne using 2% salicylic acid, from Clearasil. Even the face wash, called Hydro-blast, which advertises that it's for sensitive skin and hydrates the skin dries out my face. Keep in mind, this is even after using Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion, which is said to be the best, most gentle one out there. It should also be noted that I'm not washing my face more than twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. So why is my face so dry? Why is it so red? I'm guessing my acne is simply flaring up from being irritated, not having enough moisture, despite my moisturizer.

Any suggestions that require little to moderate effort to fix this would be appreciated, as I've tried cucumber slices which do nothing for me, or rather, I'm not sure if it takes weeks of doing so to get rid of redness using them, which would be -tedious-. Last night I tried icing my spots in the form of being wrapped up by a paper towel, and this helped initially, but when I woke up; my spots were still just as red as before. Should I try icing the spots every morning/night?

I've read that an Aspirin exfoliate can help, not only with acne but also with redness, and maybe even with scars. In contrast, I've also recently read from some forum users that this can harm your face, as a scrub is not gentle for those with ice pick scars and I've just recently developed them, or some small cases of pitted acne. I'm honestly not quite sure what it is and will provide pictures below.

Additionally, I know some would recommend using Aloe Vera, to which I've never had, and would not know how to go about obtaining. My nearest convenience store is Walmart or Publix, which I imagine would offer a form of lotion or gel that's main ingredient would be Aloe Vera? I'm not sure which product is the most popular for acne and general facial redness. I tried using cortisone 10, but this did little at all to help my acne, nor the cysts on my chin. It should be noted that I've gone two weeks without dairy, I drink plenty of water, and usually get adequate sleep. My face also tends to get more red after exerting myself physically, such as at work or walking home. Naturally, I sweat, have to rinse it off my face (cold water to not irritate my skin), and don't have access to lotion at work; and it's still dry all day and extremely red.

Thank you for taking the time to read, and please let me know how I might combat this! I actually feel as though I'd be a lot more confident about my face and acne if my entire face were less red in general.

You're best bet is to ask on the acne scars forum, as this side of the site is for rosacea, which you don't have :) they'll be able to give you better help.

But it says Rosacea AND facial redness, which I thought made it independently exclusive? Nobody seems to be answering on the scarring forum either. Sometimes I think this forum is a lot smaller than what it's statistics show.

Yes but it means facial redness as in permanant or persistant blushing, rosacea, possibly forms of dermititis.

what you have is acne scarring. For most scarring the only solution appears to be time i'm aftaid.

It's inflammation. Inflammation will make this much redder. You could try just using water only and no moisturizer (if your skin isn't dry). Zinc is also said to help with inflammation. I struggle with this too but i have dermatitis and rosacea so.....

I see. I thought it would be individual and exclusive.

What kind of acne scarring? I don't think time heals ice-pick scars.

I'm trying to make my acne lessinflamedbut honestly I'm out of ideas. I've been washing my face much less and trying to moisturize more, since my skin seemsto dry out quickly. I did start taking a Zincsupplementtwo weeks ago, but it only improved my skin the first week by about 15% and I've seen no resultsfor the second week/

No offense, it looks like you still have active acne, until you get that under control, you will always have the red scaring from pimples. Have you been on a course of accutane? Trying to treat the red scars is just going to be a constant struggle, once one scar is gone another pimple will appear and you're back atsquare 1.

I would look into trying a course of accurate to get those deep blackheads out and get rid of the acne (hopefully). Then you will be surprised how fast the red marks dissapear.

Epiology cream is quite good at tackling the redness associated with acne inflammatory lesions and isn't irritating like Sal acid or BP products. It could be worth a try for you. Have a look for epiologyskincare.com.

None taken. I agree, I do. I haven't tried accutane because I was reading a forum where apparently it can cause horribly side effects in a wide variety of users who have tried it, but at this rate, I might have to.

If it had more reviews, I might give it a shot.
