Hey man im experiencing the same thing i was on accutane 2 years ago then was put on tretinoin (retin a) and had been experiencing flushing on both sides of my cheeks... it has gotten somewhat better after being off all medications except clindamycin for mild acne. do you think the flushing will ever go away?

I'm sorry you are going through this as well. Do you have any other accutane side effects other than the flushing? Also, is the clindamycin you are taking a topical or pill? In regards to your question it really is impossible to say. The majority of people that I know that have had it go away, naturally, find that it burns itself out within the first year post accutane. It is possible that you could still have it go away naturally, but since you have had it for two years it is more likely that the accutane has altered your system and the flushing will be a long-term problem. Has your flushing been at the same general level for the last six months? The important thing is to try to determine what type of flushing it has given you. People that are experiencing flushing post accutane can have it for various reasons which is why some people have found relief through things like IPL while others find that this does nothing for them. Even if your flushing does not go away naturally that does not mean you have to live with it because there are things you can try to help decrease the flushing. I'm sorry that I cannot answer your question directly, but it really is impossible to say.

Yeah I was on paroxetine (paxil) 10mg for a couple of weeks. It might have been helping a little bit, but it gave me impotence which was unacceptable lol.

Lamarr,

Hey man can you do me a favor? Next time you talk with Dr. Chu can you ask him if he knows of any good doctors in the US for accutane induced sides? I'm really starting to get frustrated by my options locally and how things have played out. I would really appreciate it.

The dryness issue is why I brought up the sodium sulfacetamide. For me it doesn't seem to increase my dryness which is why it is the only thing I will use for my acne. Ideally I wouldn't want to use anything, but I still have some acne and it clears up nicely with the use of the sodium sulfacetamide. Just something to keep in mind if your acne starts to come back worse or starts to bother you more.

I use the sodium sulfacetamide topical suspension USP 10%. I use the generic. The name brand is klaron. I was pretty surprised at how effective it is because it did nothing for my acne when I was on it prior to being on accutane.

I wouldn't bother halfpipe. One thing i have learn't from accutane. You need to learn when to be happy and when to call it a day with things. Vanity is what got us here in the first place...

Don't get IPL done while on mepacrin and remember mepacrin will stay in your blood for a month after you stop.

Hey why can't you get photofacials while on mepacrine? What's the problem.

I was thinking of having them done in a couple months and I may still be on mepacrine, and it may be in my bloodstream. I haven't heard any real interactions with things like IPL and mepacrine...

cheers

Thats because there is no litrature on mepacrin and pretty much any condition we are dealing with.

It is a rare drug and very few use it for what we are using it for.

There will probably be no problem, but anything that can build up in the skin like mepacrin can, has the potential to cause a different outcome.

I am just being caucious. You can end up with permanent scaring from IPL. Facial fatloss is another possibility. Make sure you get a test patch that much NEEDS to be done.

ipl was brutal and hurt like a bitch

when does mepacrine start to clear the perm redness?

Your planning on getting fotofiacial RF? photofacials and IPl are the same technology. Adding RF actually means it's more dangerous, google IPL readio frequency and facial fatloss i bet alot comes up.
