Best shampoo for color treated hair

Saw this morning. They dyed several bunches of hair red, the hardest color to hold, and then washed and tried 25 times in each shampoo that was supposedly for color treated hair.

Pantene, John Freida, I think it was Keratase or kinerase, one of those very expensive lines beginning with a K. Anyway, those all faded badly, especially the Freida and the expensive one.

The best was from Aveda, with L'oreal the close second and a lot cheaper. There was very little fading.

very interesting....I hightlight and lowlight my dark, dark brown hair and have been doing so for years...and noticed that Pantene was awful also. I haven't tried any others that were listed...but I guess I'm not that suprised.

Just make sure it's sulfate free and you should be fine. That includes ingredients like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate.

Pureology no doubt. Pick the one specific to your hair type. It's a little pricy but worth it. The purple hydrate one feels so invigorating when i'm using it.

best way is to wash your hair less often - washing your hair every other day instead of every day means you get 12 weeks out of a colour instead of 6 weeks.

I think the best would be a color depositing shampoo. For example, since red is the hardest color to hold (the particles are just bigger for some reason) then you could try Quantum Riveting Reds Color Replenishing Shampoo from Sally's if you have red hair. Oh and I agree definately wash your hair less! Or at least invest in some dry shampoo.
