Purging on Epiduo

Hi there,

About three months ago, my face broke out in closed comedones all over. They didn't have any color or irritation, just tiny bumps EVERYWHERE. I had had acne previously that was similar, but not to this degree. Inititally,I thought it might be fungal acne, so treated it as such, but nothing much happened. Then, having been prescribed epiduo previously (it worked for me), I started using it again. Around the time I started using it I starting breaking out all over my face, worse than I ever ever EVER have, and I have had pretty bad acne. Its been about two weeks now, and my skin is looking worse every day. Nothing cystic, all just red scaring / pimples + still cc's (though less than before). Previously with epiduo, it took about four months to clear, and did get worse before it got better, so I'm willing to wait it out.

I've been using some serums by the ordinary alongside the epiduo, and I'm wondering whether they might be contributing to the acne? So silly of me to change everything at once.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience of cc's exploding in the "purging" stage of epiduo? Would also love to know the cause of the cc's and why my skin seems to be scarring though it never has before. I'm pretty stressed out... could this be contributing?

Have plenty more q's but this will do for now!! THANKS SO MUCH.

Can submit photos if helpful.

Be aware that one needs to apply a different antifungal cream, depending on which type of skin fungus one has (if your problem is caused by skin fungus, which it may not be). Skin fungus outbreaks are usually caused by taking antibiotics (or sometimes by taking birth control pils or having a contraceptive implant).

If you have a white tongue, then you most likely have candida. Skin candida is best treated with nystatin cream. If you have dandruff, then you most likely have malasezzia. Skin malasezzia is best treated with terbenafine cream. Terbenafine will not treat skin candida, nor will nystatin treat skin malasezzia. Therefore, see if you have a white tongue or dandruff. If you have a white tongue (and you have taken antibiotics recently, or are taking birth control pills) then the skin problems are most likely caused by candida. If you have dandruff (and you have taken antibiotics recently, or are taking birth control pills) then the skin problems are most likely caused by malasezzia.

I can provide more advice, if you wish.
