Hi, I am a sixteenyears old female. I was on 60 mg of accutane for five months and finished up in May. The only side effects I had were slightly dry lips, and SEVERE joint pain. Specifically in my lower back. It is now December, and though its gotten better, my back still hurts when I lay down. Almost like my back is settling if that makes sense. Its not a sharp stabbing pain but more of a long, pressurized, pain. I am very athletic and taking accutane did ruin my sophomore year of track so Im praying that I dont have lasting side effects that ruin this year, and the rest of my life. My doctor said that my symptoms would go away in the beginning but after two months of being off of it she said if it persisted to see the pediatrician (which I will do) which scares me. If anyone has any supplements or ANYTHING that they recommend please let me know. Ive heard fish oil/krill oil helps but I dont know how much I should take.

Unfortunately Accutane can have a profound effect on the bones and muscles/joints. Have you tried taking Vit D, as Accutane can effect levels, also maybe some Hyaluronic Acid supplement. You can try and take some Fish Oil, I would make sure it's not a cod liver oil. Stretching and yoga is good for the joints and if running or weight lifting still causes a lot of pain, then I would hold off and yes definitely see your doctor! Good Luck
