Ok so I am 18 and have been on accutane for a little over a month. (50mg/day) I have been getting pretty bad whitehead breakouts. Like a few big ones every day when I wake up. Mostly around chin but now I™m getting a few on cheeks and forehead. When does this breakout period usually subside for most people? I know this is a long frustrating journey lol. And is there any way to ease the pain from these breakouts? I popped about 4 since I started (I know I know, it™s not good to pop them) what™s the likely hood that those will scar? I can™t tell right now because my cheeks are red from acne (always have been) I popped one on my chest about 2 weeks ago (I never get them there and it was painful) and there is still a little red spot where it was...could that be a scar or just slow healing?

i now I™m asking a lot of questions but I™m just curious and I know a lot of people have taken accutane on here.

Thanks in advance :)

Unfortunately there is no way to know when your breakouts will stop. I've heard of people clearing up in two weeks and others clearing up in their sixth month, I personally cleared up just after two months while on 40 mg. Also my acne wasn't bad and painful so I kinda lived with it but my derm told me it was a bad idea to use any spot treatments since it will try your skin which is not something you want while on accutane. I'd say avoid popping and it'll head eventually and obviously reduces the risk of scarring. In regards to scarring if you are susceptible to scarring easy then logic would point that everytime you pop one you could scar but to my experience accutane doesn't make scarring happen easier. Also don't worry about it being red that is just the pigment in the skin (hyperpigmentation) those will heal slowly its those crater or ice pick scars that you want to avoid.
