Heyyy all my acne friends!! I'm new to this page and wish I could get some help! 1,5 years ago I were prescripted antibiotics (tetralysal) for mine at that time moderate acne! I think that was the worst decision of my life, it made my face break out like never before and didn't even improve as I continued with the pills... today I still have acne not as bad as when on the tetralysal but still pretty bad for me and enough bad to destroy sooo much in my life! Depression etc from this... I have been wanting to take Accutane for a while now and even my derm suggested it for me! The thing is that I never SUPER afraid that accutane will make my face worse and not work as the tetra did!!! So my question is, has SOMEONE experienced worse acne from antibiotics and after started with accutane and it helped clear up the face even tho the antibiotics made it worse ???? SUPER HAPPY FOR ANY HELP AND ADVICE I CAN GET!!! Ps sorry for my bad English I'm European haha:)

Lymecycline antibiotics and zineryt lotion worked well for me. I've never had Accutane and I hope I never do but I have read a lot about it..the common phrase which goes a long with it is, it gets worse before it gets better.

Google "Alan's acne story" which shows his journey with Accutane. I would read into it a lot before and know what it entails before taking it.

Ahh yes.... I'm just scared of all about it, but at the same time I'm just tired of my acne effects myself confidence so much... I feel like it was the antibiotics who "started" my real acne and made it worse! I'm just wondering if someone has the same experience with antibiotics and who after got helped by accutane

Hi, I took antibiotics and at first they worked really well for a few weeks but then my skin was terrible (worse breakouts I'd had for years).

im on week 6 of accutane and my skin had already cleared very well. I had a bit of a breakout in week 2/3 but nothing too bad.

however, I've not found accutane easy. My skin is constantly red and I always feel very hot. Skin at first was very itchy and joints are a bit stiff. That said, if my skin stays this clear and the redness calms down when I finish my course, I'll be very happy

And that bad breakout you had was happening on the time that you still were on antibiotics??

Hi
The same thing happened to me. I finally decided to ask for antibiotics for my mild acne and was put on Oxytetracycline. It worked wonders for 6 months and although I wasn't 100% clear my skin was so much better. However, around month 6 I broke out and continued to do so and my acne was the worst it had ever been. I was switched to Lymacycline but all that did was sort of calm the acne so I finally agreed to Roaccutane. I'm now half way through month 5, completely clear and have never regretted it. I had a small initial breakout, mainly on my neck, but nothing like what happened whilst on the antibiotics.

Antibiotics do not cause a initial breakout, because antibiotics kill the bacteria. It must have been something else that made you break out.
