Hello,
I was nearing the end of my 4th month of Roaccutane therapy. I was on 40mg daily for the first month, then 70mg daily for the subsequent 4. My skin is very smooth, compared to what it was prior to the treatment, and no new cysts are appearing for the past month and a half. Redness still persists in some areas, but they're not bumpy or raised. After a quick check-up, my dermatologist told me to continue taking 70mg per day for the remaining 2 months (making it 6 months in total). My question is, is it viable to stop my therapy 1 month short? (5 months in total instead of 6). The side effects are quick pronounced at times, and I would like to get this over quickly.
Thank you.
I can't remember the exact statistics but you are far less likely to relapse once you've reached your cumulative dose than if you stop beforehand. I was tempted to stop a month early but I thought that if I'd put up with 5 months of the side-effects then I want the damn thing to work. I'd rather take the final month than have to do a second course
