Hello! It is my very first post and I'd like to have some of your advice.
Well, let me start with a bit of how my acne got worse to get to my main question. When I was 13, I started having small spots -barely visible- occasionaly. Every 2 or 3 months I had around 3 pimples. Later on, when I grew up, at 14, I started having more and more acne but still in a very moderate way. Till I had my beard trim when I was 15-16 years old. I had really deep acne (I forgot how do we call them) and it started hurting the lower part of my face (I only had acne on my chin and on my cheeks). I started using products based on benzoyl peroxide and I started moisturising my face and washing it twice a day with a sort of gel I got from the pharmacy. It worked for a while, but my acne was still visible and the deep ones became more redish and I somehow started scarring.. I decided to talk with my dermatologist who did check on my situation, he told me "as long as you started scarring we should start our roaccutane (accutane) journey." I was so excited but yet anxious about the risk I'm taking regarding the side effects and the liver problems.. I weigh around 78 kg and I'm 185 cm tall. I'm about to get 17 on september (I don't know if this is important lol). Well now, he told me I had to take 3 pills per day for 6 months! Which isn't obvious.. I have moderate acne and only on some spots on my face. 60mg per day is a little confusing.. I started taking the pills yesterday, and I'm continuing today. The question is, do you think I should follow this path? And do you think the dosage is inaccurate for my case? (I'm looking forward to having no acne and to get my confidence back..) Anyways thank you for reading my post! (I hope I'm doing well on this forum lol)

since you told that your acne has been persistent and its leaving you scars, Accutane is the best choice and about the dose, well, I think 60mg is fine, higher dose means you will have to stay on the medication for less time which is always good.

Thank you for answering me! It is my 6th day today, and I have breakouts coming from nowhere! It looks like the old acne I had is active again and I have oil on my skin like never before! Also my acne is more severe now I have no idea why.. the dryness they've been all talking about is not visible at all. I think I should wait for next month's doctor's appointment.

dude, its just been a few days, first month will be rough as your body adjusts itself to the medication, and after that you will start noticing other side effects, so just hang in there, it will get better with time

Nice to meet. The normal process for new Accutane users is that ( don't freak out ) your acne will indeed get worse, but this is normal as this is what the medication does at this stage. Hopefully, after 3-5 weeks you'll see it calm down and the healing process should begin. People with persistent acne weather it's mild, moderate or severe it always takes a time to go away. Look at me for example. I've got mild/persistent acne and I've had to have a second course of 60mg, and still, i'm breaking out. I've been on 60mg now for just over 5 months I think and my acne still insistsin taunting me. Hopefully, my 7-month course will clear it up, but at this stage, I been having my doubts. But it's different for everyone. Good luck!

The breakouts I had, lasted fat 48 hours, and now they're fading away! I'm happy with the results for my first 11 days journey lol. I still have oils around some areas on my face, but thankfully I don't have that severe dryness everyone is talking about (I guess it is coming :/ ). Goodluck for you 2nd course!!
