Epiduo/Tactupump Forte - Stops Working after Months?

Hi there,

I've been using Epiduo/Tactupump Forte for 4 months now to treat my moderate acne, which usually plagues my forehead and the area between my eyebrows. The tactupump worked well for reducing the size of some of the bumps on my forehead, and after 1-2 months, cleared up most of my acne. Stress really aggravates my skin though, so I still have the occasional 2-3 pimple breakout once a month, but I find the tactupump makes them smaller than usual, and it helps with drying them out.

However, this month I had SUCH a bad breakout. My skin was the best it's been in years, and then two weeks ago, my entire forehead was suddenly covered. I just had another mini flare-up this week, and now I'm scared that I developed a tolerance to tactupump and that it will stop working.

Has anyone else using tactupump noticed if you build up a "tolerance" to it? Does it suddenly stop working, or are acne flare-ups normal? Any insight is appreciated.

epiduo has bp and adapalene gel, ive heard that bacteria don't develop resistance to it and adapalene gel generally works the sameno matter how long you use it. so I don't think your skin got used to it, it must be something else.

I hope you're right. I'm trying to figure out if it's a food allergy that triggered it, but I haven't eaten anything unusual over the last few days....hoping this doesn't happen more often :(

Yes! This is the EXACT problem I have had. I have been using Epiduo for 6 months and it worked really well for my pimples, effectively giving me clear skin. It has now stopped working, all my pimples are coming back. My doctor has suggested I alternate every 3 months between Duac and Epiduo to prevent my skin becoming resistant to the gel.
