35 yr old female on day 12 of 80mg (2 40mg a day). I have mild but persistent hormonal acne. I'm wondering how successful Accutane is in treating hormonal acne and also is 80mg a day considered a high/low or normal dose? Just wondering what doses other people are on. I'm having all the symptoms, noes bleeds, dry eyes, back pain, etc. my lips are dry but I'mconstantly keep them soaked in some very moisturizering balmand I keep moisturizer on my face 24/7 so I haven't really had a problem with dry skin. I can already see a positive change, I'm just hoping it doesn't come back after my course due to it being hormonal acne. I'll be on it 5 months and my insurance isn't paying a dime. 🙁

Im on my 2nd course for hormonal acne and month 3 was the first cycle I noticed which you could tell from my face what was going on. No usually jawline or cystic spots, not long after my monthly post, 1 spot appeared on my chin and another beneath the surface but all manageable and nothing like before I started where it was plainly obvious the time of the month!
As for your dose its all relative, I would consider 80mg high but only because i am taking 60mg, you course is 5m and mine is 6 so this might explain the need to have more in a shorter period. But if in any doubt speak to your dermatologist as they all have different thoughts on whats best high short doses, long low doses, mid range...you get the picture.
All the symptoms sound normal, its if they get unbearable that you might need to reduce the medication, keeping everything moisturised is a good practice as this won't stop until after the treatment and the dryness will get more persistent.
Good news that you've begun to see improvement i also saw early improvement and have continued to do so.

Thank you. As much money as this is costing I don't want to take the chance of it coming back and having to do it again. I probably should see a hormone specialist and get to the root of the problem that's causing it. Ive been wanting to try the Vitex supplement. I just hate to pay $400 a month for 5 months and it not be permanent. I work at the pharmacy where I get the med so I do get it at wholesale but still. My insurance stinks :(
