Does this sound high to anyone? I just picked it up but had like 3 pharmacists come out and quiz me about the dosage so now I'm worrying!
did 1 month on 40, one on 60, two on 80 and now been prescribed two on 100 because I'm still getting new spots. I'm female 23, 5ft7 and weigh 62kg/136lbs
Yes that's HUGE! I'm also 62kg/172cm and I'm on 20mg/a day. I don't know your story and how severe your acne was/is but I find this really irresponsible and uncaring from your dermatologist.
You shouldn't even be allowed to take such high dose based on your weight! Max 1mg pro kg
DONT USE IT! It is a pretty high dose or maybe too high... When you start taking it you begin with small dosages like 10-20mg so your body can get used to it... You shouldnt be taking more than 50mg no matter what. It will increase chances of side effects I assume, not sure though.
Exactly.. this is WAY too high.. I don't know how he could have described that high of a dose.
This is the only person I've seen that has even had more than 100mg per day (if I'm not mistaken, I have watched this a long time ago) because he's acne was SO SEVERE and PERSISTANT that no dose has worked for him.. and I even think he was on it for more than a year
eek that's scary
I took it when I was 17 at 60mg a day and it eventually worked (different dermatologist, straight in at 60mg), this time (acne came back but on my lower face rather than forehead) its just been so stubborn she said we could try higher. I get dry lips and nose and bit of peely skin as side effects, but apart from that have been pretty lucky. I also quit drinking a while back so that makes it a bit safer but as much as I want my acne gone I also don't want to do myself permanent damage
so you reckon it's not even worth giving it a go and seeing what happens? she did say to make sure I reduced if i felt it was a bit too much but knowing me I'll be too stubborn
If you've quit drinking a while ago, your liver has still been affected by the alcohol. + now 100mg of Accutane. That's going pretty hard on the liver
I won't tell you not to take it because I'm not a doctor, but I'd talk to him one more time or ask for a second opinion of some other dermatologist. If you were a lot heavier than 62kg it'd be pretty much okay, but on your weight that dose is huge but it amazes me that you don't have any strong side effects
