Hi all,
I'm currently on a possible 6 month prescription of Isotretinoin to cure my cystic acne. All Be it, my skin wasn't terrible but it wasn't good - I just constantly got cyst like type randomly.
i started off my first month at 10mg as test due to a side effect being seizures, I used to take these as a kid. I'm now 6 weeks into 40mg dosage, which is currently for 2 months so not long left then bloods again - however I'm really starting to notice being so tired waking up, sore heads recently and unfortunately as I write this .. which is why i came here.. depression.
I really feel down about everything, feelings slightly worthless but I don't get these often, I usually just suffer from the tiredness/soreness & dryness.
Does anyone have any remedies to the depression or to help? I'm 22, male.
i have to admit, the 10/11 weeks of the course so far have done wonders for my skin. Thanks, James

Try doing an exercise that you enjoy to take your mind off it.
When I was on roaccutane I started weight lifting and I noticed an increase in my general mood and also became more focused.
Hope this helped a bit

Thanks or Commenting and helping out Cammy.
i regularly go to the gym, so this remedy I can use also - however just have not been the last 2/3 weeks due to no motivation and been extremely sore from it cause of the medication.
i really can't believe the amount of side effects this medication has?

I understand, yeah there are quite a lot of side effects I found. Dry lips and skin were the worst for me but I did also notice a change in my mood and I'll be honest it has stayed with me a bit and I finished the course last November. Like I said I just do things to keep your mind away from it i.e the gym or going out with friends.

Even i`m clear now and i take Accutane for just 45 days(my acne wasn`t that bad, and i was on 20 mg first month and now on 30 mg),
Regarding depression, there`s one thing which will help you: you must be sure that accutane will clear you 100%, even you have to wait 30 days for that or 180 days. Think just you stayed with acne years, you can wait few more weeks or months until you are clear. I know it`s hard because your body is so dry. But just think at that. Accutane clears acne. Side effects dissapear after accutane is over.
My oppinion, reduce the dosage to 20 or 30 mg per day to minimize side effects and take it for a long it. It works the same, you will feel better day by day thinking that in few weeks or months you will be clear.
Thank you for replies, I didn't think I would get any.
@Dog I'm currently on a prescribed 40mg for 2 months from my dermatologist.. and I believe my last two months he said working upto 60 or 80mg!
it really is working though, I won't stop, it's just such a crazy drug due to side effects.. I didn't expect for so many to happen. Really getting the dry lips and skin all over the body.
I can see why this has petitions to be Banned though! my derm said this the last resort... as I was on lymecycline for 5-6months!

I understand you don't want to stop your treatment, however you need to let your derm know. Depression is nothing to mess with while on Accutane. Even Roche states that it may or may not go away once you have stopped. Besides Accutane is not the cure all and many have had their acne come back. Please get help!
