Hello guys, so long story short: I've been taking birth control for nearly 9-10 months now. I got through the initial breakout stage. My skin is no longer oily. But I still get pimples (sometimes even cystic acne) regularly. And going on birth control really magnifies my anxiety problem and makes me need to take meds.

Recently my doc puts me on antibiotics again because my breakout is getting more serious, which is pretty upsetting and confusing.

I am considering giving up birth control and replacing it with accutane instead. Is it a good idea? I am hoping getting off birth control can solve my anxiety problem since it is not getting rid of my acne anyway. But I'm also worried that accutane can also mess with my emotions. Plus it may not help so much with hormonal acne .

What at do th guys think?
Accurane and no birth control
or maybe try both?

merry christmas anyway!!

Hey there, maybe try spiro before you go with accutane? I only say this because some of the side affects with accutane are big and I'm thinking of stopping because I got the worst pimple I've had in years just from dose 2 of it. And that was low dose ..

if your breakouts are only sometimes definitely sounds hormonal .. Maybe your birth control isn't strong enough? But I think spiro would help since you want to get off bcp completely: it's an anti-androgen, meaning if your acne ishormonal it'll help because it blocks the male hormones that contribute to acne.

I havnt tried it yet because I'm still on the fence about accutane..
I went through birth control too had an initial breakout, and now I just have oily skin some congestion and once a month a jawline little cyst or something. So I get what you mean it's like you're closer to clearing but you're not 100 percent on it.

Accutanr will ill help I just wouldn't want it to make things worse if things are already pretty good for you.

P.s maybe your breakouts are getting worse because of the emotional anxiety you say you're having?
I know with hormonal stuff emotions are a bitch.. I've literally cried for a day and the next day woke up with new acne sporadically.
Try and keep as zen as possible, you can beat this <3
