I am a 20 year old woman and I've had acne, combination skin ever since I was in middle school. I also have acne on my back and chest. Is my acne severe, and is it the type of acne that accutane can solve? I've tried spiro, it worked the first year, but not fully. I also didn't want to be on pill all my life. I have very low self esteem because of my skin, also my sister has alopecia and I'm worried accutane will trigger me to have alopecia?
Have you tried retinoids, like Tretinoin/Retin-A or Tazorac? I know the thought of an initial breakout is scary, but they are shown to be very effective. I messed around with lots of over the counter products with little to no success before deciding a prescription topical was the way to go.
I would say your acne is moderate. My skin looked like yours last year. Some people might disagree with me, but I really don't think having 2 pimples from time to time is "acne" unless you're a model.
Accutane is a serious medication with serious side effects. I have a friend who believes he still has lingering effects from one dose of Accutane ten years ago, like sexual dysfunction and mood issues. I'm not anti-drug as a rule, but I think you should exhaust all available options before you try Accutane, and a retinoid is definitely an available option.
You will get through this!
Accutane is a chemo drug that was used to treat cancer, thats why the side effects are so serious. I personally wouldn't want to take something that could potentially ruin my health for something like acne, because no matter how depressing and difficult it is... its not a life threatening condition. Taking it might cure your acne, but you could have far worse side effects. Thats why I believe in trying other treatments first along with lifestyle changes. As capybara said, I think you have many options left before you try the strongest but also most dangerous treatment for acne.
By the way, your face doesn't look bad at all good luck
I agree your acne isn't a severe case but understand well enough that you'd feel better if you could have it gone. Go see your doctor or dermatologist and talk over with them what you've tried so far and let them know your concerns. They should be able to talk you through the various medications you could try. Best wishes.
You are at the age where taking chemo drugs and pills can be dangerous. Acnes can be caused by gems and bacteria present on the hands and on your mobile screen. Try not to touch your face. Wash your face 6-7 times a day. Do not forget to wash it again before going to bed. It can also cause because of lower bowel health, there are some natural remedies like indian nuts [link removed]that improves diuretics and improves bowel health and also works on acnes and blemishes effectively. Last but not the least take proper healthy diet and complete sleep.

Washing your face more than twice a day just leads to dryness, I don't think it's helpful to wash 6-7 times a day...
