Accutane Affecting Your Period?

Okay, so I started taking accutane a few months ago, I'm currently on my fourth month, and the doctor is having me take two pills a day, each 40mg, so that's a total of 80mg per day. I'm doing abstinence as my form of birth control, and I have never had any sexual intercourse, so there's no way pregnancy can ever be an option. Anyways, recently, I've noticed that my period has started to get off and it's never been late on me before. It's fairly consistent, occurring within 21 days, lasting 7 days long, and now it seems to me that it's slowly been getting off track, and it's been a bit lighter. It's 4 days late now, and I'm slightly concerned...is this a normal side effect from taking accutane? Should I be seriously concerned? The doctor hasn't ever mentioned or asked me about my period, so I'm not sure....and it never really bothered me until now... Any thoughts?

Well this is embarrassing...I'd delete this post, but I'm not sure how (maybe because I'm on my phone)...so I guess I'll just answer my own question for anyone who may have this same issue...?

Accutane messes with your hormone levels, so it may get you off track on your period (like it suddenly now has for me... My period has started now, but it was a good ten days late). Eventually, when you get off this medication, your period should start going back to normal. (From my understanding, according to the people at the dermatology office, this isn't something to worry about and is fine.)

Hi, I'm on 20 mg per day and even though it's 4x less than your dose, Accutane changed my period too. In my 3rd month it was 14 days late (yikes!) and in my 4th month it was really light - more like spotting. I've asked around previous users and like you said, it goes back to normal after the course. phew!
