On my third course of accutane..This time I'm being self medicated because even tho Itold my dermit is worsening she wouldnt prescribe it to me again... first 2 doses I ended on 80mg.. my body weight is 70kg.. spots are coming back HARD so I did a lot of research and bought isotretinoin from a reputable site my friend had bought from... I've been taking a low dose of 40mg a day for the last 2 weeks and my spots are getting worse..I'm starting to get clusters of small painful red spots around my moustache area (if I had one)... my question is..
Should I stick to the 40 or go back on the 80mg a day dose that cleared my acne the furst time? And then when my skin is clear go back to 40 or even 20mg for maintenance? Because I'm super bummed out about my skin and I'm not leaving the house until my skin is clear again.. I know there's an initial breakout but would going on 80mg make it go faster??
I respond extremely well to accutane on my first 2 doses and am completely clear while on it!
I know it isn't what you want to hear, but you really shouldn't be self medicating on something that is as strong as Accutane, which has the possibility of severe side effects (even if you have had no problems with it before in the past; Accutane is a wildcard when it comes to how it will effect people each and every time they use it). My statement about how Accutane is a wildcard is even more true since you are (whether your friend says its reputable or not) buying from an unauthorized dealer, which can be a whole other discussion of its own on how risky that is.
With this is mind, I urge you to reconsider your decision of self medicating, and actually suggest trying alternative routes that aren't Accutane. There are plently of resources throughout the entire web, especially all the suggestions that are found right here on this site. Also, since you have taken Accutane before in the past, your skin will probably be more receptive to treatments that may not have worked for you previously. However, if you are determined to be on Accutane again, try going back to your derm and telling him/her how strongly you feel about this, and if that doesn't work, try finding another derm that would prescribe it to you (so that you can get the bloodwork done in order to further safeguard you from any complications).
Honestly, I think you should stick with the 40mg. I am not condoning self medication but if you are going to then it's probably smart to go with the 40mg since you just finished your second course with the doctoranyway. Having toomuch of that vitamin A derivativein the body can't begood for you.
