Hi! So I've been using generic clindamycin gel 1% for a while now after getting off birth control  (I realized I don't want to be on a pill for the rest of my life :( ) so after an initial breakout after getting off the pill my skin seems to be clearing up pretty well using just the clindamycin except for some of those tiny under the skin mini bumps that won't seem to go away or come up. Just saw my derm and she said she'd like me to try switching to using ziana. I have no problem with this but after looking up reviews for ziana it seems like a lot of people have an initial breakout. Ziana is clindamycin and tretinoin but since I'm already using a similar form of clindamycin does this mean I'll avoid getting the initial breakout it sounds like some people get? My derm wants me to only use it 3 times a night for a few weeks and use my regular clindamycin gel the other nights until my skin adjusts to the ziana. My birthday is less than two weeks away and my skin isn't that horrible right now so I really don't want to start using something thats gonna give me horrible breakout by my birthday. Anyone else use this stuff in a similar situation ?

I would say continue with Clindamycin instead of swtiching to Ziana.

You can improve Clindamycin by applying AHA creme on top of the layer of Clindamycin at night. It will exfoliate the skin and work on breakouts too.
