So ill give a brief rundown of what is happening with me. about 6 months ago i was prescribed epiduo and graduated to Retin-a 0.05. I have no irritation whatsoever from the increase to Retina 0.05% . About two months have passed and I bumped my retina to 0.1% assuming it would be a wise choice and speed up the whole retinoid process thus clearing my skin quicker. I have used it diligently for 5 days at nighttime and i am experiencing VERY mild drying or peeling around sensitive parts of my face like my mouth and nose. I stress it is mild with no pain or redness. My question is : should I skip a night of using REtin-a 0.1% or just apply it normally OR should i apply it to my face avoiding the areas of peeling. I was also thinking of applying the retina a and adding a moisturizer but i heard that dilutes and weakens Retina.
You may skip a night or two, or use lower concentration for few days then back to 0.1%. In general any more concentrated retinoid should be gradually introduced, e.g. every other night or every third night until the skin gets used to it, which may take as long as 6-8 weeks in some cases.
Best!
