So the story is I was put on Accutane 10mg around 2 and a half months ago after a year of struggling with constant hormonal acne. During the first month, i experienced a bit of dryness and back pain but it was bearable. There were a few pimples here and there but i wouldnt consider it my initial breakout. My IB started nearing the end of the first month into the second month. There was not a single day that i woke up without a new pimple. I knew it ought to happen but i just didnt expect it to come full on like that. I am now in my 3rd month and only experiencing PIE and PIH. Let me tell you one thing about these two: YOU CAN NEVER TELL THEM APART. One day itll appear to be reddish and brown in another. Its just crazy. So im going to post a few picture down here so show you my progress i guess and maybe some of you could help me with this whole PIE and PIH thing.
The first one is my skin today and the second is from 3 months ago.

thank you! Can you recommend some products that can fade PIH?
Sure
Main component for fading dark spots is sunscreen. If you aren't using sunscreen, any product that I recommend won't be useful as the sun would keep making the marks darker and darker.
List of products:
Azelaic acid - this is a prescription topical, so you're gonna have to ask your dermatologist to prescribe this. Reason why I recommend this is because it not only combats hyperpigmentation, but it also keeps your skin clear as it slows down the production of keratin. So yeah, it'll keep your skin clear and bump-free (literally) even after your accutane, as well as help lighten your spots. Its actually used as an acne treatment too, and its not super irritating like tretinoin/Retin-A. Good thing too is that it doesn't lighten the rest of your skin beyond its normal pigmentation, but only the spots that are discolored/have excess melanin.
Glycolic acid - an alpha hydroxy acid. All AHA's work to reduce dark spots, but glycolic is the smallest AHA in molecular size therefore allowing it to penetrate deeper into the epidermis. Combine this with azelaic acid and you literally have the strongest dark mark corrector in the world.
Hydroquinone - comes in 2% and 4% strengths, don't even bother with the 2%. If you're going to go this route, the 4% has to be prescribed by your dermatologist. Super strong melanin inhibitor, only problem is it has questionable side effects (research on this).
Vitamin C / Ascorbic acid - I used this for about 2 months. It works well, only problem is that if you apply it to your whole face, it ends up lightening even the non-acne-marked spots..which is a hassle cause it doesn't do anything to reduce how noticeable your current acne marks are. If I were you, I wouldn't bother with it until after your marks are fully faded. Rather use this to maintain a healthy glow (which it undoubtedly gives you after 2-3 months of use).
In order of which I would use first:
I'd pick the azelaic acid + glycolic acid combo as first choice. If you can't get glycolic acid or are too lazy to get it, azelaic acid ALONE will do a pretty damn good job too. Next would be hydroquinone if you just wanna get rid of the marks and the marks alone. Thing is it doesn't help you maintain that smooth complexion, so its useless other than the fact that is lightens marks.
Hope i've helped!
