I am (or probably more accurately was) in the middle of my second month of accutane. I have been having some very slight hearing issues when I had a cold in the first month, which I brought up to my doctor and we agreed that it was a pretty normal part of congestion. Well last night my ears started ringing. They've been ringing constantly since. This is one of those "call your doctor immediately" scary side effects and is apparently often permanent.

I am so beyond upset right now. I have tried every other evidence based treatment and this was truely a last resort. My skin was starting to get better, and I was starting to have a tiny bit of hope for the first time since I was a little girl, and now this happens. I get to be the lucky 1% with possibly permanent side effects.

The worst part is that I am way more upset with the fact that my doctor will almost certainly take me off of accutane when I bring this up. I would rather deal with the ringing in my ears than have my skin stay like this. (Most likely I wi have to deal with both.) I am just despairing. I feel like sobbing and have been on and off for the past few hours and I can barely leave my bed. (Definately not suicidal, so do my worry about that.) Because now I really do have no hope of this improving anytime soon. This affects me so badly and I am so angry, so upset that this is happening to me. I'm going to have bad skin and messed up hearing to top it all off.
