Background story: I've always had nice skin. I've used depo provera and the Nuvaring as birth control methods in the past which have made no difference in my skin. In October 2014, I got the Mirena IUD inserted. It made my skin horrible. I tried all sorts of topicals but nothign really helped. I removed it in June 2015 and it got better but never fully cleared up. Last month, I started breaking out again and my skin care regime/ life style/ diet hasn't changed.
I was using Clindoxyl and glycolic acid in the morning, and Retin A 0.05% in the evening. When that stopped working, I went back to the doctor and was prescribed Alesse and Stieva A 0.1%.
After reading on here, I was scared to try Alesse. I noticed a few new bumps a week after using Alesse, but I'm not sure if that was related to that because I was still breaking out anyway. I stopped Alesse but my skin continued to break out. So I stopped the Stieva A and used Clindoxyl twice a day. Skin is still the same. I went back to the doctor and was prescribed Finacea, which I've been using twice a day with Clindoxyl.
My doctor put me back on birth control because my period has been really irregular. From October - September, I've only gotten my period once or twice. Would going back on Alesse help my skin and regulate my period? I figured since I had no effect on the DP and Nuvaring, it shouldn't break me out. It would balance my hormones and help right?
I don't need it as birth control.. I'm not sexually active. If I started taking it every other day, would that minimize an initial break out?
