I am starting month 7 this week and totally at a loss (I am a female in my early 30's). I had massive breakouts with each increase in dosage. Now, my face looks horrible. I am still getting 2-6 new actives a day. They aren't as bad as before, but it is ridiculous! And they are only in the area around my mouth and along my jawline. The rest of my face is perfectly clear- blackheads are gone and comedones, too. I just break out with these weird actives that are like deep, deep whiteheads.
My doctor said to continue until clear and he's never had accutane fail anyone. He said one guy just finished after 12 months on it and is perfectly clear. Ugh. I feel so defeated. I thought this would be my holy grail and so far I've spent a ton of money in Rx costs and co-pays and my skin looks horrible. Does continuing actually work? Will it progressively get better?
I'm just amazed with how bad I look right now. Pictures included.
My dosage is as follows:
Month 1- 10mg
Month 2- 20mg
Month 3- 40mg
Month 4- 60mg
Month 5- 80mg
Month 6- 80mg
Month 7- 80mg
I've been monitoring that- I average 14+ grams of fat when I take each dose of accutane. Do I need to include more fat? During the weekdays I tend to eat way better and have a lower fat diet. However, I plan accutane doses around meals where there will be higher fat intake.
I've also been eating nuts for breakfast in the morning due to the higher fat content. But I'm wondering if it needs to be a more greasy fat (like eggs), if that makes sense?

I read that it needs to be at LEAST 20mg for absorbency. I have definitely seen a difference since I've been taking the 2 pills together w/ dinner. For example I had salmon, avocado tacos and put extra virgin olive oil in it and that was PLENTY of high fat alone, but I also drank a glass of choc. milk with it and then a spoonful of peanut butter for "dessert"... all of that was way more than 20mg. The next morning my face was extra dry (which is great)! The accutane sticks to the fat molecules (basically) and is absorbed into the fat which is why they say that.. I've done so much research lol.

AND I take fish oil pills. That helps too! I take it when I'm 30% into my meal, then take the accutane when I'm about 80% into my meal.
