So I started differin literally 4 days ago, I have used it twice in this time. However is it possible to have a breakout straight away? My acne seems much worse today..it's like small bumps have turned into bigger red lumps.
It might just be a coincidence due to my period being due like in 2 days however.
Also does differ in do anything to already existing acne? Like is it at all anti-microbial?

Hi Stace. Differin is not an anti microbial so in the am you should use BP or clindamycin or some other topical antibiotic. Differin will not help with current acne unfortunately and a flare is quite normal. By month 3 though, you should be seeing some steady improvement. The thing with retinoids is that progress is rarely linear so you may continue to break out, clear up, break out, clear up, etc for a few months. You have to mentally prepare yourself for the long process.

Thanks Sasch, i dunno where i saw it but I read that differin is an anti inlamatory..must be wrong though. I've literally only used it 3 times and my skinn is not great..Meh.
I feel kind I'm going to use it every second evening and possibly never begin to use it every night, do you think that's okay?
It also seems that my salicylic acid cleanser is far too harsh now for my skin
