Hi there my name is Nate And I am new to the site I need your guys help I've been on accutane for about 2 months Yes I do suffer from anxiety From time to time Not all the time Though. now First month was great I was taking one pill a day At 40 milligrams Hell my doctor was so impressed With my first follow-up That she double my dose And now take 2 pills every 3 days I started doing that On July 16 Everything was going great I was feeling good because my skin was clearing up pretty well.. Man on August 1st Something happened So I took my two pills in the morning like it usually did And I went over and got me a coffee Now just to let you know I drank black coffee when I was taking one pill a day.. So after drinking my coffee About 15-20 minutes Later I started feeling really anxious And my mind started racing Now I thought this was due to the caffeine overload. So I contacted My doctor and related her my experience. She told me more likely was due to Caffeine overdose And to refrain from caffeine Loads of it While on the course That made logical sense to me Because I am a health nut anywaySo three days later I took two more pills And To my surprise I was freaking out again Having an Anxiety attack Having weird thoughts Sweating chills Freaking out.. After calming down I thought no wait a minute How come I'm still having symptoms And I have any caffeine Or anything to up the symptoms It was scaring me. So I contacted her again And she said okay Drop it down to a lower dose Take one pill a day Like before, Honestly guys I've been afraid to take the pills now Because I'm still trying to deal with the side effects Of freaking out and they have an anxiety and weird thoughts I'm still having those thoughts And freaking out And I've been off the pills 4 days now. Now I don't want any psychological or mentalResidual Effects To happen to me Because That's why I am now skeptical to Take it. Do you think I made the right move by getting off of it Or do you think I should talk to her About Lowering the dose even further Take from there Or do you think I should just stay off

absolutely. Your body was telling you something and you listened. Give it a week or so till you're back to your old self and try again. If it happens a third time, it may be time for a new game plan.

Being real here I think there is a link to mental health and accutane, but not from the medication itself. People on accutane have really bad skin, so the y are 1000X more likely to suffer depression and anxiety. Before I went on accutane I had depression and anxiety attacks, completely caused by scarring acne. I was sooo scared of the mental aspects of accutane, but nothing bad ever happened. Havent had anxiety issues in a decade.

Before accutane I never had full blown anxiety attacks. But like I said in my post Something went wrong one day After taking it Beforehand The medication was working fantastic I had no depression No anxiety Nothing was worrying me i was really happy I don't know what happened I had nothing to worry about But On comes as severe anxiety attack Just out of the blue It was really strange And scary at the same timeIt's been a week since that episode And I'm still having anxiety attacksI don't get it because I'm off the medication
