Hey guys new to the forum, I'll start off by giving u some background info:

-I'm a 16 y/o male teen.

-Started accutane approximately 9 and a half months ago. First two months 20mg and the rest at 40mg. I have like 10 days left until I'm off it.

- I had really really really really really oily skin before I started this, hence the cysts.

My face right now is awesome, it's dry but maintainable through moisturiser. Almost 100% acne free.

Before I was on accutane certain foods made me break out, now that I'm on it I feel somewhat invincible.

So I just can't help but worry if my skin will start to slowly downgrade and become like before, oily and covered with cysts after I finish up in 10 days. I'm in high school now so the stress will add on to it.

I would like some of you to share your experiences with acne after accutane. Did it clear you completely, partially, etc., you know stuff like that.

And please don't bother recommending me to use topicals bc I don't want to use anything on my face except maybe a moisturiser after I'm done with accutane. Also, please don't recommend me a healthy diet I have friends who eat like pigs and have no skin issues whatsoever, besides I want to eat anything I want to :)))))

Thanks much appreciated :)

My accutane came back after each and every course. Many people relapse as accutane temporarily masks the issues. The answer for you would be to wait and see. If you know that certain things worsen your skin but choose to eat them anyway, you will break out because accutane doesn't cure food sensitivities. The sad reality is that for many of us with acne, some effort has to be put in to stay clear as acne is just a draw of the dice (I can use all sort of crap on my back and not break out- face is another matter). The choice is yours. Keep in mind that you're still in the hormonal phase so....

Honestly you will have to wait and see. There is no telling for certain if its going to stick. For the majority it does, atleast for awhile.

If it does not stick you may have to see your dermatologist and get topicals until you can try again.

Also I know changing diet sucks but if thats the cause you may not beable to fix it any other way. Think of it like your doctor telling you you have Diabetes. You can't tell him"Well I don't want to go on a special diet and cut out sugar because my friends eat sugar and don't have Diabetes". You have it they don't.

It's hard to find positive post-accutane reviews here because the people with success stories don't need to come to acne.org anymore. It works for most people, so don't get discouraged! I'm on Day 16, and I've already started to think about my routine post-accutane. I think the important thing is not to aggravate the skin and trigger the return of acne, so I'm thinking a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and BP and AHA for the occasional pimple/exfoliation.

I'm totally with you on the diet thing! Life is too short to be cutting out the things I love, permanently. I'm in great shape and I feel like I have a good balanced diet. Figuring out what is triggering my acne (if anything) seems like way too big a task. I've tried cutting out a few things and have never seen a relation.

Hey guys thanks for the replies I've sort of decided to not think about the after effects until I actually finish my treatment. On a another note I would like to know if delaying my treatment can help sort of easing my body to adjust with not being on this drug. By delaying I mean: instead of taking 2x 20mg tablets a day, what if I just take one a day to extend the treatment?
