Hi ya'll

I was on Accutane March 2014-August 2014 so I did 6 months of 40mg once per day. My insurance didn't cover anything. So I couldn't go up in milligrams even if my derm suggested it. My skin was clear for the first time since I can remember and it stayed clear after my course for a solid 10 months. It came back so my derm then put me on Onexton in combination with Tazorac. I've been on it for 5 weeks and it's made my acne worse than it has ever been (even before Accutane). I'm hoping I'm still in the "purging" stage. I will give it another month to see if i get any results. It's very discouraging not seeing my skin get better. I don't even want to go to work I'm so embarrassed of how my skin looks..

I guess I'm looking for any feedback any of ya'll might have. If you've tried these prescriptions and what they were like for you? It would be greatly appreciated.

Or if any of you have done a course on Accutane and it came back what you did to clear your acne once it came back?

Anything helps. Thank you.

My daughter went on Accutane for 6 months and within a few months the acne came back. This time is was not cystic but still troublesome enough to be treated.

We had different doctor's opinions on if it was worth a second round of Accutane. They decided to go other routes since it was not cystic this time. So she has been on a BC pill, topical antibiotic and other topicals like Retin-A. It kept her skin under control for awhile but has gotten worse in the last few months (total time since Accutane is about 2.5 years now.) So in her last appointment, they put her on an oral antibiotic (which she has taken in the past for a long time). The oral is sometimes the only thing that works. And they just put her on Onexton. So they want to see her back in 2 months and have had the Accutane talk with her as an alternative if what she is doing now doesn't work. I don't have enough info yet to tell you how this is working, but the doc seemed to think that a 2 month check was going to tell her something.

Good luck to you.

Cabbie -

Thank you for your input! I really don't want to have to go back on Accutane again although I might have to if this doesn't do the job. My derm said the same thing as well. After two months on the treatment she would like to see me again and decide if it's working or if I need to go another route.

Good luck to you and your daughter

Good luck to you too! I hope whatever route you have to take is minimal and painless
