Hello,
I have been on roaccutane for 3 and half months now. I didn't have severe acne but mild & persistent acne on my chin ( it got worse on my period) and cheeks. Since I did try EVERYTHING, roaccutane was my last resort.
First 3 months, I have had new acnes. I somehow kept breaking out. I am not putting on any make up, do not consume alcohol or anything but I guess what you eat doesn't matter at this point. If you are going to break out, you break out.
I have started 4 months 1 week ago. Right now, I don't seem to have any active acne. I have REALLY red spots on my cheeks and chin, though. When I touch my face, it is so smooth except for a few bumps but these red sports are just so frustrating! They look like acne which doesn't make sense at all. They even make me cry on daily basis! I am attaching the image of my right cheek.
My doc says i will be done with roaccutane at the end of june& if I happen to have scars, we will start scar treatment. I am taking 40 mg a day by the way. So will these red sports go away in 2 months? I want to hear your experiences. I am feeling really down because of them... I cannot even enjoy not having to wash my hair every day...
If you would like to ask me any questions, just go ahead. I have experienced every single weird side effect...
hey i been on accutane twice
first of all ....you should always ask ur doctor these question and pay attention to what they have to say ( dont follow them blindly either)
after saying that ....i too had a hard time dealing with red marks in my previous treatement ....but the good news if its a PIH and not a scar ...it will go away .....some marks takes days ...some weeks ...and some even months ...but they all fade away
im not sure about this ...but i noticed my marks were gone by month 4 ( been on 10 mg for the first 2 and 20 mg for the other 2)
good luck
I feel your pain. I just started my fourth month, although I only have a couple active spots, but for the most part clear. I had a terrible initial breakout!! Places I've never had acne were consumed by cysts. This brought me to tears. Now, I have a lot of red marks still. Hopefully it's only PIH. As much as scars/redmarks suck, it's waaaay better than the terrible cysts that were recuring. At least I can cover red flat spots better with makeup than potruding red cysts. And as you said, doesn't matter what you eat, if you are going to have a breakout, it's gonna happen. Not saying you can eat cupcakes all day and have a baby complexion, but you catch my drift. Just keep in mind, you also heal slower on ttane, so jus hang in there.
Accutnae should work eventually. I was on it 2 times and it worked both times. There is creams out there that will help fade your scars and that won't cause acne. Also, after having acne for 20 years almost and many of nasty scars to show for it, my best advice is to try to figure out what nutrients or vitamins that you are lacking in your body which is causing you to break out. I recommend you to take a multivitamin every day if you aren't and try to eat healthy with low sugar and drink a lot of water.
